Features

  • Designed for R.O.B., the Robotic Operating Buddy — one of only two games to support the accessory

  • Play as Professor Hector, navigating labs filled with traps, pillars, and Smicks

  • R.O.B. controls the pillars, lifting and lowering them using spinning gyros to clear your path

  • Puzzle‑action gameplay, combining timing, coordination, and environmental hazards

  • Authentic 1985 NES launch title, released alongside the system in North America

  • Single‑player or alternating multiplayer, depending on mode selection

  • Historical significance, tied directly to Nintendo’s strategy to reintroduce video games to U.S. retailers after the 1983 crash

Gyromite is one of the original 1985 NES launch titles and one of only two games ever designed for use with R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy). Developed by Nintendo R&D1 and released in North America on October 18, 1985, Gyromite puts you in control of Professor Hector as he races through booby‑trapped labs filled with dynamite and roaming Smicks. R.O.B. interacts with the game by lifting and rotating physical gyros to move on‑screen pillars, creating a unique blend of puzzle‑solving and action that helped the NES break into U.S. retail after the 1983 crash.
