The cable is very long for standing or sitting stationary. The cable straps on to the head set. My old dell desk top has 2 usb-c ports so no need for an adapter.

There are USB C to USB A adapters you can purchase but I would recommend looking into using the Virtual Desktop Application to stream your PC games to your headset wirelessly. You can find instructions on how to set this up with a simple google search and Virtual Desktop is much cheaper than the oculus cable. I purchased the cable and don’t even use it anymore after finding this workaround. Wireless PC VR runs great.

the link cable will in fact charge whatever oculus device you own that has a C type plug in, i myself find this very handy when putting in long hours on my favorite games. if your link cable has not been charging your device when properly plugged in i would say you need a new one.
