Digimon Card Game: Protector of Light Starter Deck (ST-20)

The Protector of Light Starter Deck (ST-20) released on April 18, 2025. This release coincides with the 5th anniversary of the Digimon Card Game and launches alongside its sister deck, ST-21 Hero of Hope.

The deck is a celebration of the original TV Anime Digimon Adventure. It features the first half of the iconic DigiDestined team and their partner Digimon, specifically focusing on Tai Kamiya, Kari Kamiya, Sora Takenouchi, and Izzy Izumi. The deck's primary thematic goal is to utilize the bonds between Tamers and their Digimon to unleash the power of the legendary WarGreymon.

Collectors and players should look for several high-value inclusions:

• Lucky Decks: A limited number of factory-sealed decks are "lucky decks," containing a rare Alternative Art version of Agumon (ST20-10) instead of the standard printing.

• Alternative Art Scramble Cards: The deck includes exclusive new illustrations for the versatile Scramble option cards (such as Red Scramble), which are highly playable across various deck types.

• Foil Super Rares: The deck features premium textured foil versions of its most powerful cards, including WarGreymon ACE and Angewomon.

WarGreymon ACE (ST20-11) is the deck's centerpiece. It features the Blast Digivolve keyword, which allows you to digivolve into it from your hand during your opponent's attack phase at "Counter" timing without paying its memory cost. As an ACE card, it carries an Overflow (-4) penalty, meaning you lose 4 memory if the card leaves the battle area. Its effects include deleting an opponent's lowest DP Digimon and granting protection to your own Digimon based on the number of colors your Tamers have.

• Alliance Keyword: This mechanic allows your Digimon to gain the DP and Security Attack +1 of another of your Digimon by suspending it when you declare an attack.
• Warp Digivolution: The deck enables a "warp" strategy where a Level 3 Agumon (ST20-10) can evolve directly into the Mega-level WarGreymon ACE, skipping the intermediate levels to apply immediate pressure.
• ADVENTURE Trait Synergy: Almost all cards in the deck share the trait, which triggers specific search, draw, and power-boosting effects throughout the match.
• Color-Based Scaling: Several card effects become more powerful as you put more colors of Tamers into play, rewarding a multi-color strategy.

Yes, these two decks are designed as sister products that complement each other. While ST-20 focuses on the WarGreymon line, ST-21 features MetalGarurumon. Players are encouraged to mix cards from both decks to build a highly competitive multi-color Adventure deck that utilizes the full cast of original DigiDestined partners.

Each factory-sealed box contains:

• A pre-constructed 54-card deck consisting of 21 unique card types.
