What are the main difference between the Nintendo Switch Lite and other Nintendo Switch consoles?

Nintendo Switch Lite is dedicated to handheld play and is smaller and lighter than the Nintendo Switch console.

The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model and Nintendo Switch consoles transform from home console to handheld. They include a dock for connecting to your TV, as well as removable Joy-Con™ controllers that you can share with a friend for two-player fun.

Can I play with friends and family on the Nintendo Switch Lite?

You can play multiplayer games using compatible wireless controllers, including Joy-Con™ controllers and Nintendo Switch™ Pro Controllers (sold separately). If using separate Joy-Con controllers, you will also need a device to recharge them, such as the Joy-Con Charging Grip.

To use wired accessories such as a GameCube Controller Adapter, LAN adapter, and USB mic, you’ll need a USB Type A – Type C adapter. Nintendo Switch Lite also does not come with a built-in stand, which you may need if playing with an external controller. Nintendo recommends using officially licensed accessories, such as the Dual USB PlayStand made by HORI.

Can I play all Nintendo Switch games on the Switch Lite?

Nintendo Switch Lite can play the games in the Nintendo Switch library that support handheld mode.

For games that do not support handheld mode, players can wirelessly connect compatible controllers (sold separately) to Nintendo Switch Lite. If using separate Joy-Con controllers, users will need to have a device to recharge them, such as the Joy-Con Charging Grip.

Can I play online multiplayer games? How about locally?

Nintendo Switch Lite supports multiplayer gaming options of all kinds. You can play together online or in the same room using one system or multiple systems. Specific features vary by game.

The Nintendo Switch Lite is first and foremost a dedicated video game platform. Optional video-streaming software such as Hulu is available in Nintendo eShop.
