Rated 0 out of 10 by Souji Seta Greatest handheld RPG ever?
The Shin Megami Tensei(SMT) series is unmatched in its ability to make the player feel that (s)he IS the main character. The player himself formulates his own opinions of the situations inside the game world, and through highly varied dialogue choices, deals with every character and occurrence in his own unique way. This is what makes the SMT series so truly special. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, which brings the compelling series into a dark and gritty science fiction world, will deliver all the deep, multifaceted game play, and amazing story telling, that is expected from any game that has the honor of carrying the SMT banner. The previous DS release, Devil Survivor, while very good in its own right, left fans a little wanting in sheer depth. Strange Journey, with its 80+ hour experience, should have no such issue. This is an absolute must buy for any RPG fan who has access to a Nintendo DS.
Rated 10 out of 10 by SaintOfJustice SMT fans Rejoice, yet another wonderful game!
This Game was so awesome that im a little angry with myself, i was fairly new to the Shin Megami Tensei series up until tw0 years ago, when i bought my first SMT game Persona 3(REALLY Awesome game!), I got hooked right away, and just kept getting shocked by the sheer number of games this series has, but i didnt realize that this game had come out until about 6 months after its release, i was disappointed that i was unable to reserve the game in order to show off to all my friends, but nevertheless, now im just rambling. This Game is confusing if you have never played old school rpg's(im talking about late 80's here people! think of Phantasy star or even Persona 1, or Final Fantasy)I would suggest anyone who wants to go and play this game well prepared to checkout a couple of walkthrough's for this game on youtube, try to avoid watching any dialogue in order to not get any spoilers alright!
Rated 9 out of 10 by RiRyn Holy Mother of Mercy! My third game of the series.
That's right, I bought this game as my third one after SMT: Overclocked and SMT: 2. Son of a Gun, this game is freakin' hard, and I'm only 7 hours in. Hardcore and frustrating to the extreme. You have to "NEGOTIATE" to get most if not all of your demons. And by George, they make you work for it; your tongue better be made of syrup and your prospects good, 'cause it is literally dealing a deck with demons and gambling, so to speak. It's related to dungeon crawler play, which I'm not a fan of, but in some ways reminds me of Metroid with the computer giving me missions to fulfill in an "alien" (Read: DEMON) filled sub-universe in Antarctica. Pretty darn good story line and the music is enchanting if not a tad creepy and patronizing at times. (Yes, I know I'm about to get my butt handed to me in this game, thank-you Mr. Composer.) Obviously, for a 2009 DS game, the graphics are rather crummy and 'sprite-y', but it doesn't detract from the game's value. Overall in so far, a marvelous pick up for $12.00 and I still haven't scratched the surface of it. Team Leader Daemon Spade (my chosen character name) signing off.
Rated 10 out of 10 by KnightMan What a Strange Journey it was....
Before I write anything I have to say that I almost failed school because I was so addicted to this game... Seriously. This game is a very fun old school RPG based mostly on the old MegaTen game.In it you dugeon crawl in a giant black hole in Antartica trying to find out why the world is going to end. To do this you must fight, negotiate, befriend, train, and sacrifice demons. Using the power of the sword and dilpomacy you will advance into diffrent areas of the demon worlds which reflect the sins and errors of humanity. The game is hella difficult. Seriously. This game does not cut you any slack. You will step outside for the first time in the snow cave and get murdered by a fairy or something you cannot see. Like most MegaTen games, instant death is inetivable. You wil get killed by Mudo often. But you will train to battle to help you get further.

A definate choice for a RPG fan . if you like the PERSONA series , you'll love this. its like PERSONA but a sci fi twist to it. The character graphics kinda remind me of FRONT MISSION. but nice package in a DSI game i have to admit. Alot to do in this game from leveling up to exploring dungeons and all kinds of goodies lol. very interesting game, its kinda like oldschool mixed with new school RPG with the dungeon passage walkthroughs.. makes you want to play more and more. i suggest you get the DSI XL , to really bring it out. but all and all, TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. great fantastic RPG twister. plus im a huge fan of Shin Megami Tensei games. This is one of those games you crawl up under your sheets at night and just play while your girlfriend is sleeping lol.
