Rated 4 out of 5 by VBSJ from Sound quality compared to 10 other models. HyperX still has superior sound but these win when it comes to comfort. Keep in mind I went through 10 headsets in 14 days and finally narrowing it down to this. I tried a $350 pair of Audii-Technica’s, Turtle Beach elite, ASTRO A-50 wireless, Steel Series (Arctis Pro, 7, and 5), HyperX (Cloud 2, Revolver, Orbit, Mix, and Flight). These fit exactly what I needed, I wired headset with an in-line mute switch. HyperX has the Cloud series but I already owned a pair for my daughter and didn’t want to have two of the exact same headsets in my house. The mic quality for streaming is excellent. The only thing better is having a separate mic set up for audio. The clarity on this mic beats anything else hands down. My only wish for these headsets is if they were a bit louder and had a volume control. Even with the PS4 headset sound turned all the way up, these fall short in sound compared to the HyperX Cloud, Alpha, Revolver and above series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KraniumKrusher from Don't buy without Mix Amp - Great Headset Do not buy without the Mix Amp. I purchased the A40's w/ out the Mix Amp and intended to purchase the Amp a few weeks later but the headset alone is really not the way to go, plus it's less expensive to buy it with the mix amp. No volume control on the headset. You have to back out to your audio settings on your console and adjust. Also, if you're in a party you have to separately adjust the party volume and then the in game sound quality drops. Also does not have Dolby w/ out the Mix Amp of course which I was aware of but still has decent directional audio. I ran a full audio test on my computer with DOLBY ATMOS and the results were very good even without the mix amp. Be careful when doing a decibel test though! Once you start going over 15 kHz you can damage your ears on higher volumes. I don't know if it went all the way to 20 kHz as I had to take them off. The bass test was excellent, the frequency, response, low and highs all measured up. With the mix amp, during DOLBY ATMOS 3D tests the directional audio was exceptional. Better than any gaming headset I've ever owned. You can hear exactly where players footsteps are coming from, even when crouched. Gives you an upper hand without any directional confusion. Great for all audio but specifically exceptional for gaming. ***Buy it with the Mix Amp or go with the A50's. Either way you can not go wrong with the quality from higher tier Astro products.

Yes, I plug them in through my chat pad and they sounds better than my prior turtle beach set and the Xbox one set.  I bought them because I wanted a larger set for my head.  My turtle beach’s were too tight giving me headaches.  You have to buy noise cancellation earmuffs separately if you don’t want any distractions.

You can change the mic and the earpiece covers to whatever astro is selling at the time but you can't change anything else
