The story is great, good graphics, but boring Lightsaber combat moves. This game is mostly for kids but that does not mean it sucks.
I loved it and it had awesome graphics, lightsaber combat,&blaster battles!!!!(A.K.A Clone trooper levels)
some people say its bad but i disagree. it has tons of fun levels. I loved it it is so much fun.
I love the tv show so when i heard about the video game i thought it would be like the "battlefront 3" but it wasnt. the game is way to easy i mean come on infinite respawning wheres the challenge. Its like lego star wars but less challenge quicker levels and less replayablty. >>SPOILER ALERT<< you play on 4 different places with 35 missions in all. On ryloth ahsoka and anakin go to eliminate the remaining droids capt rex gets capture by bane and he is forced to help him bring a gravity weapon. on juma 9 youre on a ship that badly damaged. on what ever the ice planet is called you explore a crash site and on belpour you fight count dooku and kul teska(new guy) >>END OF SPOILER ALERT<< The game is aged for little kids so unless youre a little kid dont buy it.
You can tell that Krome Studios developed SWTCW:Republic Heroes for kids, so if you fall in that category then you'll have a good time...but if your in your teens/adulthood then I would have to say that this game is DEFINATELY NOT for you. So being that I'm an adult I'm going to base this review on that perspective. On to the review... Graphics- I have to admit that this is pretty poor for an Xbox 360 title. Everything in this game looks subpar at best. From the character models to the enviornments, it quite litterally looks like a late generation PS2/ 1st generation Xbox title, and since this is on 360 theres no reason why it should look this "blah". What I find INSANE is that the graphics on SWTCW: Lightsaber Duels for Wii (which was also developed by Krome) looks INSANELY BETTER and ALOT closer to the show then Republic Heroes. Think I'm kidding? Play them both or just compare screenshots...Lightsaber Duels wins HANDS DOWN in the graphics department...AND ITS A WII GAME. Gameplay- Boring for the most part. Depending on which mission is next you'll play as either Jedi's or Clone Troopers and both arent that fun or exciting. When your Jedi its mostly a hack and slash affair and this would have been fine if you had a nice/good amount of combos to unleash but unfortuantley you dont. You just mash on the X button and do the same 2-3 combos throughout the entire game. And force powers? You have force push and...thats about it. What happened to all the force powers??? It also has some pretty troublesome platforming and its due to not having any camera control (very similar to LEGO Star Wars). You'll fall to your death many times becuase you cant properly line up the distance of the jump to the platform. Gameplay as the Clone Troopers is just getting from point A to point B and shoot every droid thats in your way. THATS IT. All in all, I was left very unimpressed. Control- Incredibly easy. X is your slash/shoot button, Y is your force push/bomb button, A is to jump/dive, and LT is your block/crouch button. Doesnt get more complicated then that. Sound/Music- The one area where Star Wars games never really mess up. It has music and effects straight from the TV show as well as the same voice actors portraying their respective roles. Probably the best aspect of the game. Length- You can beat it in about 5-6 hours if your just playing it for fun. If your going for the 1000 points it'll take about a good 10-12 hours. SWTCW:Republic Heroes is a poor game all around. If your a Star Wars nut and are enjoying the TV show I STRONGLY suggest you rent this, as buying it would be a complete waste of your hard earned money.
