Before I begin my review I will say I am a die hard G.I. Joe fan, and this was the first Xbox game I ever played. The game is not as bad as many people make it out to be. The only real problem is the fact you cannot control the camera angles, other than this I would say it is comparable to Marvel's Ultimate Alliance. It is a short game, but even my 18 year old brother had fun as heavy duty. In short if you want a shoot and bash game with a good plot you will like it. If you are looking for something edgier, or something that feels more like a comic book, see my product recommendations below.

I will start out with the simple gameplay. Missions are quite easy, not much of a challenge (for me). It would be better for kid gamers as they don't really mind graphics as much, the friendly language used in the game, and the ability that a 2nd player can join at any time without a sign-in of a gamertag needed. The game is in 3rd person, like Army of Two and Gears of War. The camera angles can be somewhat annoying at times. You can pick between the characters for the missions, i.e. Duke, Ripcord, Scarlett, Snake-eyes, Heavy Duty. Selection of the mission you want to do is available. Controls are pretty basic, I've spent about 6 hours and have made it about half-way through the game. I recommend renting before buying, unless you are a die-hard G.I. Joe fan! This game is not the best I have ever played and by-far not the worst, but I do recommend a rental or borrow it, before you buy it and are disappointed. I was honest about the level of graphics in this review, as Halo: Reach, The Force Unleashed II would have a 10, this games isn't bad but definitely not the best.

The worst part of this game is the camera angles. Sometimes you can not even see what you are shooting at. The game is kind of fun and adds a lot of detail on the classic joes from the 1980's toy collection. When you start out the game it will start you on an easy difficulty, but it really does not unlock many of the rewards of the game. So I would suggest for you to choose a difficulty of ADVANCED. Some of the vehicles that you can drive that I have found so far only seems to be Snow Job's Articcat. Some of the enemy's are very simple to destroy, but the true enemy's with a heavy defense is when you need to battle against Cobra HISS tanks and these annoying flying hubs that have their own force fields and rockets. I would recommand on your later levels to make sure you have Heavy Duty on your team, he seems to destroy enemy targets a lot faster and can smash up things quicker with his super strength.

I am going to go out on a limb with this review. Unlike others, I truly like this game. Now this is not anything new, it definitely is not a Call of Duty or groundbreaking in any way. This game is a throw back much like the movie. Some gamers may not remember games like Commando, Ikari Warriors, Contra, Super Contra on the original NES or GiJoe (1992 by Konami) in the arcade. This game reminds me a lot of the afformentioned games. I has a little bit of old school flavor. It is very linear and I am ok with that. I think the story is good and the characters are done well too. It has a lot of old school GIJoe thrown into it with some vehicles, etc. It reminds me of what I used to really enjoy playing but with a modern day twist and upgrade in graphics. It also has a few neat little things thrown in there as well. I know a lot of younger gamers think this game is horrible and with what your options are today I fully understand, but for you older upper 20s and 30s somethings that now play GIJOE with your little ones or are looking for something that reminds you of the good old days, I suggest that you check this one out with an open mind and I bet more often than not you will be pleasantly surprised with this title.
