Its 2021 and I bought this game because I grew up playing Castlevania. Lords of Shadow is in my opinion the best 3d Castlevania out there. Just think God of War with werewolves and monsters like that. It still holds up graphically after all these years and is backwards compatable with x box one. If I had to give it one criticism it would be that I took a while to get used to the controls. This is a must buy for the price and I really am enjoying it.

I've played LoS in the past on PS3 and decided to pick them up again when they got backwards compatible with the Xbox One. I loved every minute of it, the swiftness, the controls, the beautifully done worlds and setting. It was Castlevania game, masterfully transitioned to 3D in ways other 3D Castlevania games never did. Gabriel Belmont is a fantastic character, and the host of side characters aim to truly amaze the player, all while staying faithful to the Castlevania lore and setting all those years ago. And the whole thing is narrated by Sir Patrick Stewart at the beginning of every level. If you have a means to play this and you never have, I urge you to pick it up, it's one of the last good Castlevania games in a long while and deserve praise.

As soon as I started I was drawn in the beautiful scenery combined with music and story made the cut scenes touch my very soul. Yes I know it seems as if I am exaggerating but I'm not. I felt as if I truly were Gabriel Belmont. The twists and turns made me love it even more and the smooth game play and character progression is worth the 100% completion. I rented it from GameFly but I will DEFINITELY buy my own copy. I can't wait to play the sequel. I loved that they had Patrick Stewart as the narrator and as a main character. The only problem I had was the camera. At times when holding still it shook just a bit but in all honesty it's still worth the play. Thank you Lords of Shadows for relighting the spark of my love of the Castlevania franchise!

There is so much to say about this game and if i typed it all, it would take me a year. To keep it somewhat short i can say that this game is AMAZING! A fresh new style of gameplay for the Castlevania series and it was in the direction i always wanted to be in. You play as a new charcter from the Belmont clan named Gabriel. His past is a bit mysterious but adds depth to the game. The variety of power-ups and abilities adds to the over all strength of Gabriel once you get closer to the end of the game and can be found or bought in each level. some are easy to find and others are hard and take a bit of puzzle solving or skill to get. The style of gameplay is a third person action adventure game and has taken a lot of insperation from classic games such as God of War and Shadow of the Colossus. Many people dislike Castlevania LoS because they feel like it is being "ripped off" or copied from these games, but i feel like it is an homage to them. Levels can vary from being very long or very short. A problem i have with Castlevania LoS is that some of the puzzles are extremely difficult and don't make much sense. I had to look up a few after giving up 3 days of not being able to figure it out on my own. Another problem i had with this game is that (spoiler alert, i guess) is that The game doesn't take place in the castle too much. I remember it having a lot of chapters but they where only about two to three levels long. Overall, the game has immense beauty and the graphics are breath taking. The cinematography for the game play is outstanding and beautiful and the music fits right along with it. The game has a great blend of action and puzzle solving along with memorable boss battles that make hours and hours of excellent gameplay. Boss battles are tough yet fun and can range from fighting a giant warg to climbing a titan! I would definitely recommend this game to fans of God of War and action-adventure titles. Like i said, there is hours of fun, and the level designs are all different. I hope you pick up a copy of this and give it a play.

Although the game's story differs from the original canon series, this is not a Castlevania that should be pushed away because of it. The game is beautiful in many ways. The sound is perfect (actors voices and music), the graphics are great as well, combining awesome animation with real-looking people and beasts, and the gameplay is also something to fully enjoy. I've seen people complain about the fact that the player can't control the camera, but personally I think that it gives the game the original Castlevania style, by making you see only what you should, and at the same time, hiding important items out of the frame, which makes you look for them so you don't miss them. And sometimes the game moves in such a dynamic way that mekes you feel some kind of adrenaline in battle. The game also has puzzles and the option of gaining experience points to buy skills that makes the main character, Gabriel, more powerful. And of course awesome boss battles. The only thing that looks off the game is the fact that we don't spend most of the time in Dracula's Castle, as most of the Castlevania series, but this is for obvious reasons that I will not tell for the sake of those who hasn't play the game. And finally the story, many can find it frustrating because is not the very original story that people have been following since the NES, but the story is so amazing that you stop caring about that fact and just wanna see how it ends. So buy it, you won't regret it, is really REALLY good.
