Firstly, I play all sorts of games, but really do like a good racing game. I picked up a some cheap games that I hadn't played before the other day at Game Stop - Dead Rising, Pure, Gears of War, Clive Barkers Jericho, and Condemned... oh and this one! Anyway, I am new to the 360 (had a Wii, PC, and PS3 for games previously), hence picking up some of the older titles. First started playing this game and thought to myself "well, if all the cars handle like this one then this game is going back". I stuck with it though because I was impressed at the graphics. I am glad I stuck with it - the game is AMAZING, and quite a surprise given its age. The career mode interface could have used an overhaul, but the racing itself is challenging yet fun, and the accuracy and look of the buildings is spot-on. It really is hard to keep your eye on the track sometimes because the scenery is so impressive. To me the graphics are on a par, if not better than Forza 3. The car models may be nicer in Forza 3, but the weather effects on PGR4 are wonderful, the cars and bikes are good, and the tracks themselves while not as many as Forza are still great fun to go around. As one other reviewer noted though, turn the music off. I usually do on racing games anyway as I like to be able to hear what the engine is doing! Not a huge amount of customization available as well, but that isn't so much my thing. My only other gripe is that the feedback from the controller is not as good as Forza, but it is adequate. For $3.99 used though if you stick with it this is bargain. Just don't be put off by the poor control of some of the initial vehicles. Great fun!
