12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards Winner: Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year

After seven years, Red Alert returns! After a time travel mission goes awry, a new superpower has been thrust onto the world stage and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making WW III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies such as Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.Experience the next chapter of the Red Alert saga.

In Red Alert 3, the desperate leadership of a doomed Soviet Union travels back in time to change history and restore the glory of Mother Russia. The time travel mission goes awry, creating an alternate timeline where technology has followed an entirely different evolution, a new superpower has been thrust on to the world stage, and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making World War III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies like Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.

Red Alert 3 asks the question “What If?” What if every bizarre research project and technology experiment for the last 70 years had actually borne fruit? What if the Philadelphia Experiment, time travel theory, teleportation, invisibility, Tesla technology, and a hundred other intriguing research projects had all paid off and gone mainstream? What if the Soviet Union survived and thrived; what would it look like 10 years in the future? What if the Japanese Empire had never fallen and instead became the ultimate high-tech military superpower? The end result is an imaginative and playful vision of an alternate future filled with possibility.

Controls are ridged but you will get better with them the more you play(obviously) the best wat to get used to them is to play multiple skirmish games before you start any campaigns

This was one of my favorite Games for the longest time, EA games single handedly destroyed a long running successful product that westwood made so popular. Money truly is the root of all evil.

this is a very good RTS.the sound of the game is good the storyline is okay.in this game you could play as the empire of the rising sun the allies or soviets.playing as the empire is very good for skirmish because they could build anywhere unlike the soviets or allies.its good to play on normal or hard because the challenge is better. on easy the challenge sucks crap though on skirmish you could choose brutal difficulty but not on the campaign.in this game you command units you could build structures just like all the other command and conquer games in this game you use a lot of stratgedy some missions take like 2 hours to finish even on easy!so its always good to take time to plan.in the game i rushed like every mission but that was a mistake becuase sometimes when you rush a lot you could forget your tactics althouh i won the whole game.you have to rush in the game but not a lot because if your to slow the enemy will start to strike and you wont be prepared.but i recommend this game for any RTS fan or command and conquer fan.

A fantastic game, but it laked from the true C&C spirit.

Well, once again, this is a very good RTS game that will leave you wanting more, but its missing so much from where my expectations went. To begin with, the ground infantry, such as Conscripts, Peace Keepers, Tankbusters, Etc. (Non-Vehicle Infantry) aren't even worth sending out in fights, they get mowed down so easily you won't even see it happen (Especially the Conscripts, these things are WORTHLESS against enemy units) all the real power lies within the Vehicle and Aircraft. While the units may look cool and seem to have the real Futuristic touch, they were way too humored down, leaving poor design mesh, and an overall let-down to RTS fans. The storyline, which is much to difficult to explain in one review, was alright, but I think if I had to decide on one word to describe it, I'd pick, 'Suckish'. The campaign leaves much to be desired, and if your on the 360, you will never be able to expand to the Uprising Expansion. Play as the Soviets, Allies, or Empire of the rising sun, which all have many nice units and buildings in the Skirmish mode or Online Play if you want to have some real fun, the Online play is great, (But, if your on PC with Uprising NO ONLINE!) but in the end, with the Slightly Bad Campaign, the unit span, and the Amazing Skirmishes, it gets an 8, out of 10, but if you have to pick between this and Tiberium Wars, get TW.

The best Real Time Strategy on Xbox to date

I've been an avid fan of Command & Conquer since the first Red Alert was released on PC. Something about the alternate time line and cold war-era rivalry was really intriguing, and the newest, Red Alert 3, continues the C &C legacy. The Soviet leadership creates a time machine and goes back in time to defeat the allies when they accidentally spawn the emergence of the Japanese Empire- the story is told along with humorous cutscenes performed by some well known celebs. Each faction has it's own story and endings, with some missions taking an hour to complete (even on easy!). The levels vary in structure but increase in difficulty as the game progresses. With the addition of support powers found in Generals and C&C3, multiplayer battles are intense and large unit spams are almost impossible. The factions look and play different, which makes it fun to mix it up every now and then. Some reviewers found the interface frustrating but I thought it was ingenious; to make an RTS this playable on the 360 controller was unheard of in the past. With the great help of the tutorial, anyone can pick up this game and learn how to play. The graphics are top notch- explosions look great and buildings and tank armor shines with the sun's reflection. Check out the water too to really appreciate Red Alert's emphasis on naval warfare. All of the weapons sound as they should too, and the classic Red Alert rock music composed by Frank Klepacki is excellent; especially the Russian inspired ones. To sum up:: Pros: Good storyline, great controls, challenging AI, Amazing visuals There are negatives to buying this game but they are few. While the controls are perfect for the 'box, a mouse and keyboard are slightly more suitable, and the graphics are a little more crisper on PC. You cannot fight random people on xbox live, only friends. Also, support powers and superweapons can't be turned off, so battles usually tip in the AI's favor. Cons: PC version feels slightly better, no random online matches, can't turn off table-turning superweapons Overall, Red Alert 3 is a must buy for any 360 owner seeking good strategy and fun. A whole new experience, RA3's wacky universe turns the cold war hot once again.

Typical C&C but with impoved interface

This is your typical C&C game. Lots of actors you can name, but corny acting and storyline. But I still like it, since that is what C&C games are no for, I didn't expect an academy award winner. The AI can be really hard depending on your difficulty setting, and change up their tactics on you during gameplay. Graphics are good, not as good as tiberium wars but has really good explosions and the sounds aren't to shabby. You can compare the typical C&C storyline to a Sci-Fi original movie lol! Not even exaggerating. I would recommend this game to those who are fans of the C&C series. I did like the improvement of the troop selection ability. Much easier considering you have no mouse. I still recommend getting Tiberium wars if you want a good RTS.

I wanted to get this game around holiday season 2008 but my holiday buying list got too full =( I wish i had gotten it then though because this game is AMAZING!!! the AI is really good and the graphics are also really good. the game play is amazing. this is my favorite game soundtrack yet and I'm about to see if i can find it and buy it (not even free download it O.o) its just that good!!! the live action scenes are awesome too i don't care how ridiculously corny they may get it is what sets the atmosphere for this game. I've heard a lot of problems with the complicated controls they actually aren't bad just play the tutorial and you should be fine, although this is definitely NOT a pick up and play game and i would see problems with this being a first time console RTS i would say start with halo wars which from what I've played of it seems good so far. This is a great game i would definitely recommend to a friend 9/10
