I feel that Silent Hill: Shattered Memories did a phenomenal job creating an engaging experience for people new to the Silent Hill franchise and returning fans. With the removal of combat there is no fear of hearing that static or bumping into a powerful enemy walking through the town, but they doible down on creating an unsettling and unwelcoming atmosphere with a healthy dose of environmental storytelling. The story feels more like a psychological thriller than a horror title, but I think it does it extremely well and it makes sense considering how Silent Hill affects its visitors. Puzzles are some of the best as they will be your main challenge rather than combat, so they went all out on em. The chase segments are honestly pretty boring and infuriating as I ended up taking a wrong turn and ran for a solid 3 minutes only to hit a dead end at one point. While they do happen frequently they arent enough to sour the experience as a whole in my eyes.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a re-imagining of the 1999 PS1 classic. The premise of the game is the same, and you will meet some familiar characters, but everything else is completely different. This is how many remakes should be done, by taking it into a different direction, rather than rehashing the same game. The game has an amazing story! The graphics are some of the best I have seen on a Wii game, and the gameplay is exceptional. The Soundtrack by Akira Yamaoka (his last time contributing to the series) is just fantastic! However, the game has some problems; such as the fact that IT ISN'T SCARY, and the chase sequences get quite repetitive. It is still good game and I reccomend you pick it up!

Though the game lacks combat (something i hadnt come to terms with until half way through the game, i was still worried that i overlooked a crow bar or something near the beginning), it is actually way more fun than i thought it was going to be. Very creepy, and a good story line. I like silent hill homecoming better though, because it is scarier and has combat.

At first, I was wondering whether this game would be worth it, and dear, it was just amazing. Most games this days are just shoot, kill, move along. This game has a more psychological aspect to it; which not only relies on your ability to pass the game, but your decisions affect the game directly. Although it is not a canon game, you cannot help but wonder if it was as it is very closely related to the previous Silent Hill titles. The endings are still varied depending on your gaming, but the ending twist will leave you wondering long after. The soundtrack is amazing as always, Akira and Mary really did an explendid job bringing more emotion to this game. Although there are times were the Wii control is difficult to respond, it closely matches what one would do in real life, another reason this is a more psychological game than just an action one. Definately worth it, you will not be dissapointed:)

Finally a survival horror game for Wii that totally rocks

Even though I have never played a Silent Hill game prior to this one, I was a bit skeptical of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories at first. Now that I have played this game I can officially say that it totally rocks. Here is my rundown of the game. Challenge: Because there are no weapons in this game, it is quite challenging when you are in the Nightmare world and have a lot of Monsters chasing you with no way to kill them. The fact that the Nightmare World in the game is all iced over and twisted around also make it very easy to get lost. Outside of the Nightmare World this is primarily an exploration game. Graphics/Animation: The graphics seen in this game are the best on the Wii to date by a long shot. I would have given the graphics a perfect score but there is some slowdown when you open doors. Length: A bit on the short side. 5 Hours if you go straight through, 10-12 Hours if you take the time to explore everything in the game world. The fact that this game plays different each time you play it depending on choices you make in the game and multiple endings adds to the replay value. Storyline: With so many freaky and crazy things happing in the game, it will keep you hooked to the end. Controls: Using the Wii remote as a flashlight is nothing short of pure joy. The controls are also put to good use throughout the games many puzzles and on the in-game phone. Interface: Everything in this game is highly interactive, making the overall game world of Silent Hill really come to life. Sound: This is the first game I played on Wii that takes full advantage the speaker on the Wii Remote. For example when you make or receive phone calls with in the game, you hold the Wii remote to your ear like an actual cell phone to hear the conversation. Also in the Nightmare world when the monsters approach you, static will start to come out of the Wii remote. The sweet soundtrack and good voice acting really adds to the overall sound experience in the game as well. Silent Hill: Shatter Memories is a great game that I would recommend to all hardcore gamers on the Wii and anybody that enjoys survival horror games.
