Decent but could be better....To be honest, I would give the system a 3.5 out of 5. On the Positive side, I love being able to boot up a saved game which wasn’t possible with the original systems (nes, genesis, etc). The negative; the conroller is not what I had hoped (feels cheap). I will be purchasing a highly rated controller soon from a different manufacturer. I do like playing with the original controllers but the sega controller cord is only like 4 ft long. Also , I purchased an sd card with roms. I find that I can not access famicom / super famicom roms without a cartridge of that specific typ (which from the sd card company wrongly stated that famicom could be accessed by regular nintendo cartridges and super famicom by Super Nintendo carts). It could be that I just purchased a retron 5 from Gamestop that was sitting on the shelf for a few years (the dust was horrible). I asked for a slight price
reduction, but no dice! Not the girls fault at Gamestop, she just didn’t have the authority. She also asked me to wait while she cleaned off the box... which I told her was unnecessary. Gamestop review; Good help, poor policy on selling an older version of a retron 5. I should have ordered it from another vendor and waited the week for delivery! It is worth it overall to those who have the money. It wouldn’t be my first system choice however.

Great multi console deviceA great handy multi system device for many separate console games! A great find if you do not have any older consoles or don't want the hassle of connecting multiple consoles to modern TVs. Not the best in quality because it is a multi emulator.

Awesome emulation of original cartridgesI emulated ROMs for a long time but always feel that nothing beats playing the real thing. This system lets you have the perks of emulation but with saving to the og cart; it allows for save state use, graphics repurpose, convenient cheat codes, and speed up features. There are many other emulating perks that I don't use. The front gba port plays Gameboy, Gameboy color, and Gameboy advance carts. I had a retro trio but I did not like it because the SNES cart slot did not have an eject button, and often times the carts would not come out easily pulling them out. NOTE THIS RETRO CONSOLE HAS THE SAME ISSUE. Every time I pull the SNES cart out I am worried I am going to damage it. To remedy this I use a turned-off game genie cart down in the console slot and put the snes game I want to play in the genie. Shame such a workaround is required, that's the reason for the two-star knockdown - similar issue with the NES slot. They have a bit to go still in developing these - can't wait for an N64 slot to be included as well!

The classics rule!I’ve had this for a while now and it’s played all the games I had. It’s crystal clear hd. Really fun! Doesn’t mess up mid game and you can save!! Works with original controllers and games. This is an awesome console! I recommend it to any 80’s baby
Only thing is that the sega cartridge gets stuck when you put the game in. So you gotta pull hella hard to get it out. I think?

Seems great till you get it!It is a great console if you can get it to work right! I said if you can!!! Mine works great with nes games absolutely amazing. Snes and genesis not so much. It won't let me use my snes controllers I have tried 8 diffrent ones. I don't play many genesis games but the few I did try the original controllers only worked sometimes.

Absolutely DO NOT buy.The games look awesome on your HDTV with it, but it introduces a LOT of input lag. It is definitely noticeable and almost unplayable. Yes it looks good and it's good for a party trick, but it plays like monkey poo. Stick with the original systems.

Good capability and intuitive user interface, butI really like this platform; the snap-shot feature makes old games without a save feature actually playable. The only issue I have about an otherwise excellent system is the build quality. The power button has a cheap feel to it and the controller would have been better if it had been a wired one. I cannot recommend the controller other than the fact that it is adequate, but cheap feeling. The case of the unit should have been made from a heavier plastic.
