Free Radical Design hits TimeSplitters: Future Perfect right on the nose. I've clocked at least fifty hours on this game, (twenty-one straight once!) and still am loving this game. There are thirteen levels in the campaign, each of which can be played in single player or co-op, on one of three difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard). In contrast to TimeSplitters 2, the previous game in the TimeSplitters series, Future Perfect actually has, and follows, a real storyline. Though a bit sketchy, the story is follow-able and relatively believable (for a time travel story, that is). The multi-player modes are great, and get more and more challenging as you advance. You can play with up to four players and ten bots, creating absolute mayhem on any one of many new and a handful of returning maps from the TimeSplitters series. There are 150 characters to choose from, 67 come unlocked on the disc, leaving 83 more to be unlocked through completing various tasks in the game. Also some "cheats" can be unlocked and implemented in custom arcade games (some of which are "flat characters", black and white, etc.). The soundtrack for the game is phenomenal, and is available for free download from Free Radical's website, as a courtesy to their fans. As with the previous two TimeSplitters titles, Future Perfect includes a MapMaker, which lets you create your own maps to play custom arcade games on; you can even add your own storyline and add story elements (find the blue key, kill certain character). You can even change the lighting (light/darkness as well as color) of levels.
