I got this for Christmas around six months ago, and I've already sunk over 80 hours into it. Although critically it may be mediocre, I've had the most fun with this game out of any other game that I have played. The extras add a small amount of replay value, with the kart racing and boss fight modes, while I only played the boss fight modes once each to get the medals from them, I do go back to the kart racing from time to time when I'm bored or frustrated with the base game. On to the base game, it is exceedingly fun as well. Whilst the general consensus is that the speed stages are the best, the treasure hunting and mech stages add some variety to the gameplay, but some of the later treasure hunting stages definetly could have been more fun rather than difficulty for the sake of it. The mech stages are very satisfying once you finally get that perfect A rank run, and the speed stages feel fast but don't skip out on difficulty in the process. The story definetly has some holes and inconsistencies, but for a story of this complexity and the fact it needs to be told from both sides, it's pretty air tight. Although the chao garden is definetly side to the main game, you can't ignore the effort that went into it. It's very complex with many different aspects that not many people know about. Training your chao to compete in races and karate can be very relaxing and satisfying to go on this journey training with your chao, then to finally have them succeed. If you like anything fast-paced or just want to have some all around fun, then this is the game for you.
