Ask a Question

Q: Is the save battery changed and guaranteed to work and save properly?

Kari37 2 years ago
Best Answer :

Most of the time when they receive the game as trade it is inspected to make sure the game saves, however if the original battery is in the cartridge and still has a charged I reccomend swapping it out as a precaution.

Do not bother, I would have to leave the game on forever. Make sure you buy this with a new battery somewhere else.

Battery came dead

The game works great, however the battery is dead so I’m not able to save. I do repairs and mods for Gameboy all the time, so it wasn’t a big deal swapping the battery. Otherwise, great deal.

Battery is Bad

Ordered the game twice cause the first one came back with a faulty battery (which meant corrupted save data every time I took the cartridge out) and I didn’t have the supplies to deal with it myself. Second time, it came back with the same issue. So I’m gonna bite the bullet and fix it myself. However, unless you want to spend more money buying gameboy batteries, a soldering iron, solder, and a special screw driver to open up the cartridge then I say don’t bother. If you want a fun weekend project to work on, then knock yourself out.

This just arrived, it works great! The save battery still works, which is awesome for a game this old. Brings back such good memories too.

Pokemon Silver version review

This is a wonderful game for fans of the more traditional Pokémon games. However, there is a key design flaw in it and it’s predecessors that renders the game practically unplayable. The save feature is run by a small cell battery built in to the cartridge itself, so as with any battery it has a limited life span and is eventually bound to die. Once this happens the ability to save progress in the game disappears, ultimately making playing the game a pointless endeavor. Overall, I enjoy the Game Stop experience and was thrilled to see the addition of a refurbished retro section. I hope that my review will help to prevent this being an issue with these games. If corporate is willing to include replacing the save battery in the refurbishment process it will no doubt increase customer satisfaction when buying these retro games. Thank you for your time. -Ryan A
