Rated 4 out of 5 by Link81578 from Timeless Classics! I love the gba, I love that it seems all of my favorite games that I played so long ago, are now portable. This brings me to Phantasy Star. Aurguably one of the most underrated rpg series ever created. This package includes 3, (yes I said 3) installments of the franchise from yester years. If you like them then, you'll love'em now too. Nothing seemed to have been changed here (besides a few minor things like save files per game) so if you remember spending countless hours fighting hordes of monsters, simply put you won't be disappointed. I do have a singular grip, could it have killed you sega to make it a complete collection and place PS4 on the game as well? With that said, why not trek through the Also star system one more time, and do it anywhere or anytime.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ThatNameIsAlreadyTaken from A decent port that helps pass the time. One of my first dives into retro gaming. When I read about this cartridge several years ago, I heard about how challenging those games were. I decided to get a used copy of this game on a whim and I found myself immersed into some real role-playing goodness. From what I hear, the emulation of the first three Phantasy Star games is decent on the GBA version. Yes, there's going to be some level grinding, but not a whole lot, and chances are, you'll get lost in the dungeons, but it's all part of the old-school experience. At least in the end, whenever you manage to beat a dungeon and/or find an important item, it feels rewarding. The games are long, and are in fact perfect for those really long airplane flights or other times would be boring or tedious. The only thing to watch out for is this bug whereby in the first Phantasy Star game, when you try and save the game as the background music loops to the beginning, it'll crash. Quite frankly, they don't make enough ports of these decent RPGs from Sega's 16-bit glory days. Unless you're willing to get copies of the remakes (Phantasy Star Generation 1 or 2) for the PS2 from Japan, you can't really get a decent port of the old Phantasy Star games anywhere else in the United States but this cartridge.
