While a different feel from most Final Fantasy entries, it is a great entry to the series. The combat system feels a little complex to start, but once you get use to it it is a lot of fun to try out different jobs and feel out the different styles of play. It is "souls like" in the sense that any mob can beat you down very quickly and you are required to learn to block/parry/dodge, but take a lot more inspiration from Nioh. The main protagonist is satisfyingly no-nonsense as well, making for some great cut scenes.

It’s a wonderful action rpg that’s unique from the turn based strategy elements from the previous FF series…
Game play is good and graphics are mostly amazing. Some cut scenes the graphics lag and look 720p. The game is short and easy compared to other final fantasy style games. The direct to location predetermined fights is a loss to the franchise. There are a ton of battle style choices and that makes this game interesting. Make sure to do the tutorials. If you figure out the swordsman 2nd combo…let me know.
Love anything Final Fantasy related. Have played almost all titles and i appreciate that Square Enix has taken the time to bring into the modern times some of these classics.
