In previous Black Ops games, enemy reactions to damage were based on the Hit Zone and resulted in specific animations. Black Ops 6 introduces a significant increase in the number of Hit Zone regions, from four to nine. This expansion allows for a wider range of visual takedowns, such as unique death animations based on specific shots to different body parts.

There will be a total of 16 new multiplayer maps available at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps—Babylon, Derelict, Lowtown, Payback, Protocol, Red Card, Rewind, Scud, Skyline, Subsonic, Vault, and Vorkuta—and four Strike Maps for 2v2 or Face Off 6v6 gameplay: Gala, Pit, Sand House, and Stakeout.

Zombies mode is back, bringing expanded gameplay, deeper lore, and a larger roster of characters.
