The story is very mysterious, I just beat the whole game and I’m still confused about the aliens. It’s all up in the air, but the gameplay for sure is amazing! It feels like a new genre. I was thinking that housemarque should make the next twister metal!

This game is absolutely beautiful! It's difficult but that is to be expected from a Rouge like. The plot line was confusing but amazing. Everything comes together the longer you play!

I would have given this game 5 stars, but I've lost 11 hours due to crashes when I was about 15 minutes away from completing a 6 hour run, which happened twice. Though I hear the crashes are PS5's firmware's fault and not the developers, it still happened and not being able to save during those long runs really sucks.

Absolutely love it. The cyclical nature of this game provides huge replay ability. The reward from playing this game is unlike any other. There is permanent progressive parts to this game so dying isn’t demoralizing as some make it out to be. It’s more of an opportunity to try new things and strategy. I have had this much fun with a gameplay loop mechanic. I wish there was more, it’s that good. I never leave reviews - it’s that good. Give it a shot and don’t give up!

Most harder game I ever played m. Best game of the year so far

Returnal feels like a 3D twin stick shooter bullet hell game. The combat is fast and requires quick reflexes and quick thinking to avoid swarms of projectiles coming from all directions. The gameplay is fun the story is deep, the atmosphere is chilling. Note that this game is hard and not for everyone as it is a rogue like game and everytime you die you go back to the beginning and lose all progress made ( you only have to fight bosses once) and the map changes entirely. If you enjoy a challenge then this game is for you. If you prefer casual play to relax then I would try another game. Returnal truly shows what the ps5 is capable off and uses the dual sense controller beautifully. This game is a must buy for hardcore fans.

I’m beyond obsessed with this game. This is what I’ve always hoped Metroid would someday be. Incredible combat mechanics and enemy design, the sound design is fantastic especially with the 3-D audio, and the haptic feedback on the new ps5 controller is out of this world amazing. Anyone giving this game a bad review because it’s a rogue like game has a potato for a brain. It is really challenging but you learn quick. I couldn’t recomend this game more!

First off, don’t listen to *any* of the one star reviews, because they’re *all* from people that didn’t know what they were buying. Yes you start over when you die, that’s the one mechanic that carries over through all roguelikes. But this game doesn’t do that for the whole play through. Once you make it though the third zone, the game “checkpoints” and you start with a higher weapon level from then on out. Once you get the mechanics down, it’s pretty easy to stay alive. That’s where the downfall shows up, once you figure this game out, it’s pretty easy to run through without a death, especially when you utilize the artifacts and parasites that act as “extra lives”. Also in each zone, there is a machine that will let you save your character state as long as you remain in that zone, acting as yet another extra life. Fantastic graphics and sound design, and great use of new controller functions. But the game seems to pad its runtime with multiple full play throughout required to actually get the whole story. Still would recommend, and will play through again.

I've owned this game for over a week and it is by far one of the most fluid games I've ever played. It takes advantage of all the PS5 has to offer and then some. I would highly recommend this game to anyone looking for an excellent experience. However, there are a few things that should be noted. Whether or not this discourages, is up to you. There have been a few glitches here and there, but overall nothing significant enough to say the game is "broken". Would give it a solid 9/10 - simply because there is no save feature, otherwise fantastic game and enjoy the ride. Pros: Challenging gameplay Quick reload Souls-like difficulty Fluid animation and amazing graphics Addictive but punishing Permanent upgrades and weapon leveling remain with ever run Cons: Your PS5 will be held hostage until you complete the game -> if someone takes the game out or you want to play another game all progress will be lost (including permanent upgrades) There is no "save or suspend save" - only relying on PS5 Rest mode If your PS5 or the game decides to push an update- > your run will be restarted from the crash site (don't worry your permanent items remain) To circumvent these issues simply deactivate or disable PS5 updates and game updates on system settings.
