Features

When a dark shockwave sweeps through the city of Arba, the monsters that once lived alongside the people in peace are driven into a frenzied rage. As either the hero Luceus or the heroine Aurora, the player joins forces with a cast of fan favorites from previous DRAGON QUEST titles, such as Alena, Bianca and Yangus, to bring the rampaging hordes of monsters to their senses and restore order to the kingdom.

Features:

  • Overpower Hundreds of Monsters: Become the hero of the battlefield as you swing into action against seemingly impossible odds. Cleave through the relentless swarms of monsters and battle gigantic foes in epic clashes of good versus evil!
  • Fight Alongside Legendary Characters: Players can embark on a journey with some of the most beloved characters of the DRAGON QUEST series – all voiced – to form their own party of four and stride into battle. From the sultry Maya of DRAGON QUEST IV fame to Yangus, the thief with a heart of gold from DRAGON QUEST VIII, the player's party will always be full of character.
  • Strategy-Oriented Battles: Players can level up each character and upgrade their unique spells and abilities. Swapping between characters strategically and unleashing the right skill at the right time will help players survive the toughest battles.

Dragon Quest Heroes brings back the nostalgia for those who grew up with Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest. Not a traditional JRPG, the Dragon Warrior elements are still there to ensure a very fun time. The hack and slash and strategy is a welcome option to the fun JRPG and time based battles. Recommended to everyone looking for a fun game

Great blend of Warriors and JRPG mechanics

Dragon Quest Heroes was a great time. Has had some of my favorite visual and sound design on the Playstation 4 thus far. Each area memorably sculpted and colorful. The sound effects were wonderfully nostalgic while the orchestrated soundtrack was as great as the Dragon Quest franchise gets. The gameplay was solid, albeit repetitive. Even if you're willing to go through the trouble of switching out party members between quests, if you're going through all of the quests it still gets grindy. But once you find a pattern of getting through the story alongside the quests, clearing waves after waves of monsters to get the endgame items and beating the endgame bosses is incredibly satisfying. Unfortunately there's not much to come back to on NG+ after you've gotten 100% completion in the records, but the one full playthrough will still last over 100 hours of gameplay.

Simple and Fun - Bonus for Dragon Quest Fans!

I picked this game up largely because I'm a Dragon Quest fan and am dying for a traditional Dragon Quest RPG and this game scratches that itch for now. I also wanted something simple and fun and that's exactly what this game is. Some might argue that it's too simple, but I've grown tired of games that try to be too complex in their combat systems. Bashing my favorite fantasy creatures has never been more fun, and being able to choose between 4 new characters to the series, as well as several returning favorites definitely upped the fan-service for me. The story is simple and the graphics are very well done - this is the best a Dragon Quest game has ever looked! Now to wait for Dragon Quest XI...

If you're looking for a hardcore game, then DO NOT get this game! The Dragon Quest series has always been great for a casual gamer, or pre-teens and teens. Dragon Quest Hero's did hold my attention for the whole game, but it's not something that I would replay. The graphic's are amazing and so are the catchy music themes. The gameplay is fun along with the combos, it can mostly be compared to 'Dynasty Warriors' series, just not as intense of a story. In all honesty, if you like the free world, hack-and-slash, gaming style that 'Dynasty Warriors' has then this is a game for you.

Not to impressed...

I'm a hardcore gamer, RPG's shooters, action/adventure, ect.. While I love the Dragon Quest series and own quite a few of the games, I was sadly let down by this title. The story line, the repetitive voice acting and monotonous game play left me wondering why Squaresoft decided to release such a bland game. While the game is a big let down I have to say some of the game mechanics are pretty good so its not a total wash. The graphics were really good, along with the 3-D aspect of the game. The leveling system was neat but a little lacking. It was definitely a refreshing new take on the games combat I did enjoy that. While the previous installments were turn based, this one was action oriented, and involved a lot of button mashing but then again no real amount of skill was required.
