Renowned adventurer Adol “the Red” Christin and his companion Dogi arrive at Balduq, a city annexed by the Romun Empire, only for Adol to be detained before setting foot inside. While imprisoned, he meets a mysterious woman named Aprilis who turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural Gifts and the power to exorcise monsters. Now, Adol must ally with his fellow Monstrums to fend off the fearsome threats emerging from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox, as well as unravel the mysteries of the Monstrum curse, and the truth behind the unrest within Balduq.

Y's 9 is a solid follow-up to Lacrimosa of Dana and must have for any action RPG fans. This franchise has been going as long as other greats such as Zelda and Final Fantasy but seldom garners as much attention which is a real shame.
Graphics are almost like an HD PS2 era game. The color palette is pretty bland compared to YS8. The Monstrum powers mix it up and combat is satisfying. Not a perfect game but a perfect game for YS fans.
I have always felt like Ys is a very niche game and those who know, know. Those who don't will probably not be picking it up. With that being said this is your typical Ys game with a few new little ideas and a very good story. It's enjoyable, good graphics for Ys, very colorful, and fun.
