Typical RPG in Alien Environment.

This is standard iso-metric rpg that is set in the very strange monte cook Numenera universe. This rpg appears to be in the same vein as Planescape Torment. It has some glitches but is otherwise unique and fun.

Text based RPG.

Game isn't like any tactic style RPG I've ever played. There's a lot more text based story telling, and interactions than I normally like. I found the game to be boring, the developers relied heavily on the text and forgot about the combat and traveling through the world graphics. I wouldn't recommend this game. Avoid, however if you like massively text based RPGs with a tiny bit of graphics thrown in to pretend it's not a text based RPG, then this might be the game for you!

A relief for rpg fans. Heavily story based, must like games that you have to read, fighting but no grinding at all which I prefer, unique story and world. All in all I am thoroughly enjoying this game. I do think it may be a little short for my tastes but a worthy purchase none the less.

Densely Packed Worthy Successor to its Namesake

Torment is extremely a throwback to the CRPG heavy hitters of early BioWare and Black Isle Studios (RIP) titles like Baldur’s Gate and its spiritual predecessor and namesake, Planescape: Torment. This game has a lot of reading in it. Like, a lot. This could practically be described as a “visual novel” though the usual connotation that phrase carries with it don’t match up. But i truly liken this game to falling into a densely packed fantasy or sci-fi novel. And the writing is good! The character work is thoughtful and considered, the quests come to satisfying, sometimes unexpected conclusions. Honestly there is so much up in the air conceptually here that you need strong writing like this to have an anchor point, something to keep a first-time player connected without getting lost among all the made-up jargon. If you play RPGs and just devour the lore offered within, this game has so much for you. If you’re the type to look for ways to lie, cheat and charm your way out of (or into) fights, this game is for you. if you crack open a story of such high-concept sci-fi that every third word is complete nonsense, and you LOVE IT? This game is for you. I just hope you brought reading glasses, or a real big TV.

All this game consist of is text prompts. Not even good ones at that. It felt as if an 7-8th graded wrote it. Did not enjoy at all.

Plodding but Entertaining.

This game is fun if you like multiple ways to journey through the gameplay and have different outcomes for your endgame. It may be a little slower paced because of all the interactive decision making, but it was entertaining and fun. The graphics are good, too.
