So I preordered this in December, delirious in my delight, as RE3 has always been my favorite of the original RE trilogy. Well, April 3rd finally rolled around and...I haven’t felt this disappointed & lied to about something in a while. I know that probably sounds hyperbolic, but considering I’ve been waiting for this since the first REmake in 2001, lost hope, got a glimmer of it back, then a confirmation AND spent over $200 on the collector’s edition, I feel that’s being demure. Anyway, as many other reviews have said, it. Is. SHORT, sitting at a 6 hour romp for people with standard skill levels & this is if you take your time to explore areas, like I do. This honestly felt like a nice DLC package as opposed to a $60, fully fleshed out piece. It was like a highlight reel of the original RE3, but sans iconic spots & enemies - the city was smaller, no clock tower, no park, no graveyard, no Grave Digger (one of the only 2 bosses in the original, which was itself a short title by all accounts, metrics & basic common sense) - so a lacking highlight reel. However, credit where it’s due includes the gameplay, the visuals, the voice acting & the fleshed out hospital scenario (chef’s kiss to that one). I REALLY wanted this to have & be so much more, but it just isn’t...it pains me to say it, but 2 stars out if 5, buy it at a deep discount & scream from the rooftops to Capcom about this. Maybe it’ll be as my husband said & there’ll be a “Definitive Edition” a few years down the road with everything we missed here.
