Coming off of TS3, I was hoping that VT2009 would have bought some pro players who were missing from its leading competitor. With plenty of fan favorites, I was excited when I bought the game all the way up until I actually started playing. I picked Novak Djokovic because he is my favorite player, but once I started playing, the game just didnt live up to what I expected it to be. First of all, he isnt even using the right racquet, Djokovic uses a Head Speed Pro, not a Microgel. Next the player movement is completely unrealistic, the way you can change angles and almost get to any shot is utterly disappointing. Then there is the fact that it is almost impossible to make an error or force one. Attacking the net is pretty easy because you are just smashing the "X" button hoping for a smash and since you dont have to worry about passing shots, you can stay up. Another thing that bothers me is that I had to put the difficulty on very hard for a challenge. Then it became whoever made the first bad hit gets destroyed by a monster forehand, so it was either way in who was going to win the match. There really is no skill involved, but if you can figure out how to hit a drop shot, props to you because all I got were slices. Control needed to be worked on and since the top spin and flat groundstrokes are the same button, it all depends on the wacky movements on the player to determine what kind of shot you are going to hit. I regret getting rid of my other game for an updates roster, I would rather have created them myself and played something realistic. But if you are not a tennis player/enthusiast like me, this is a great pick me up arcade style game for some gamers who want to pick it up and never lose a point in a match.
