The most underrated game of my childhood.

Man I’ve had this game ever since I got my first PS3, even way before that. I’d watch my friend play the game at his house. He decided to give me his copy when his family moved to a new place. This created my childhood. I played this game till now, even 10 years later, it always feels like a breathe of fresh air. It gives me the good vibes of when you smell skittles. This is a very underrated game in my mind, this game honestly defined my childhood. I still love this game, after my PS3s life cycle ended (I’ve had it since MW1) I asked my friend if I could use his PS3 to play it.

Quake Wars is a fun game to play but most of it's problems overpower the good. The visuals are good because it still has the original Quake feel, however it's bad because it also feels like bland military FPS not to mention it's lag in online. If you like the original Quake games then you'll like this one, if you're new to the series then you wont feel interested.

I'll be honest, I bought this game because of it's $3 price tag, and I figured that no one plays online anymore, but you don't need online to play this game, it plays the same without it. Too bad Activision is stuck on it's Call of Duty franchise, because it will no longer make good games like this ever again.

Not what I thought at ALL

Okay I am going to review this game in full honest: Quake Wars was not what I thought it was going to be AND what it SHOULD have been at ALL!!! Ok, let's begin shall we? First off there are only two modes: online multiplayer which is the highlight and campagin. You know if you don't have PSN and got down that you wouldn't be able to play online since that's the highlight, ya know, you wouldn't be missing out on much because: 1. No one plays it. 2. Campagin and Online are the SAME EXACT THING. Online is online and campagin is the same maps with no storyline or characters oncesoever, do what can I compare campagin to? Hmmmmmmm........probaly AI Bots mode in Killzone 2. But hey that was FUN. This is just a mess. For real! I can EASILY slip past enemy deffenses. Anyway, there are 2 armies to play as. The GDF and the Strogg. GDF = military, Strogg = aliens. There. Last thing: The game is supposed to be team oriented but it's not. My "AI comrades" are spread ALL ACROSS THE BATTLEFIELD and they don't do anything. In fact the only reason I give this a 5 is because it's good fo about an hour.

This game has nothing to offer but bad shooting gameplay and bad graphics. There is no story mode, and it's just overall boring. RENT FIRST!

LOVE IT OR HATE

This was a great looking game on the PC and had lots of people to play against....But to me the 360 and the PS3 versions have been badly rushed i have played both versions have issues from graphical jagging or muddy textures or pop in....There is no single player besides bot matches..Which is a little disappointing....the ps3 version looks a bit worse than the 360 version that at least decent but to me the ps3 looks only a bit better than the original counter strike but...hey i own the ps3 version and I have good old fun with and it is enjoyable...but to get better graphics in it and u have a 1080p tv..set your tv to custom resolution so that if the game doesn't support 1080p native then it will run in 720p and will look better....Because when u play ps3 some games don't upscale well in those higher resolutions...but hey go out and buy it will have fun with the game it isn't the best...Because for one the maps are huge but only 16 players can go online when it really needs 24 or 32 players... BUT I LOVE QUAKE AND DOOM AND WOLFENSTEIN GAMES I WOULD BUY THIS GAME...BUT IF U HAVE A 360 BUY THAT VERSION SINCE IT DOES LOOK A BIT BETTER AS FAR AS BEING SHARPER WITH BETTER LIGHTING EFFECTS....

Not as good as I'd hoped

I was pretty excited when I bought this game but after playing it a while, I'm somewhat disappointed with it over-all. I can't stand waiting 10 seconds to re-spawn when you die and maybe it's just me but the whole game feels prety un-structured. I don't know if there is any affiliation with the original "Quake" games (which I loved!) but this one plays like a chicken running around with his head cut off. The only thing I like about it is the option to choose from different classifications of soldiers. BUT, even then, the selection of weapons is rather limited. I don't play video games professionally or anything, but I can't see myself devoting much time to this game. But, that's just my opinion. All things considered, this one will end up a trade-in...
