If you want to start playing Dynasty Warriors, start with Strikeforce! I love the idea of fury and chi and stuff like that. The graphics and map layouts are astonishing, not to mention the awesome storyline and crossover quests! This is by far the best game I've played ever. I would recommend this to everyone in the world!

If you've loved the other DW series, this isn't for you.

This game has everything I once wanted in a DW game. A town and shops interface, new modes and abilities and upgrades to old favorite characters. The only problem? That's quite literally ALL it has going for it. The story mode (the only mode by the way) is the same rehashing, right down to the levels. With one exception. This is a single player game in every sense of the word. You're out there, by yourself. No body guards, no other generals...heck, there's not even a program-controlled army wandering around like usual. It's YOU against the entire level. So it makes for a good challenge but that's about it. There are new abilities, chi and upgrades you can buy in the town which serves as your base in between missions, but how exactly they work is completely unclear, it's a series of experimenting until you figure out what exactly you're supposed to be doing; it's a very steep learning curve. The missions themselves are reminiscent of the Challenge mode in previous DW installments, they don't really have much more to them than that. Want to make a character? Too bad. Want to watch the opening again? Sorry not an option. Change your characters cloths? Sure but you won't see how it looks beforehand. Musou mode? Nope. In home versus mode? Oh ya, true single player. They've also added this fun new addition wherein if you die, you're automatically revived up to 3 times and the enemy's life stays where it was when you died. Sounds good in theory, until you see just how seriously this takes away from any challenge there would be. And the camera mode can only be described as floppy. This isn't something I'm personally used to in a DW game and it just gets in the way in melee combat and makes it far to easy to accidentally lose sight of the guy kicking you around like a stuffed doll, which again, is not an issue because of course you'll just re-spawn if you die. All in all, it just seems like a big lazy FU from Koei. The only and I mean only true plus about the game is the new Fury mode, which looks amazing and adds to the already beautiful game series...but it's honestly not much more effective than Musou attack, which is really just seems like an enhancement to. I would only recommend this game to true fans of the series just to have for the Fury mode and nothing more, but not at full price, not even at the current used price, it's truly not worth more than $9. I can see this being somewhat interesting for someone's who has never played a DW game before and therefore doesn't know what to expect, but still, no, not full price.

Surpassed Expatiation
Amari

This game has certainly reached and surpassed my expatiation. I have no knowledge of the prior Dynasty Warriors games, but I must say I did not expect this. My favorite part of Strikeforce not only are you able to play along with other players, but the upgrading system for the city. This allows you not only be focus on only fighting, but being able to obtain items to make yourself a better player. The trade system is also a great add on. I'm constantly trying to get items to advance my weapons and shops. The most disappointing thing about this game is that you can not customize your character. The most customization you can have with your character is the three outfits you can unlock that the game gives you. But none the less this is an awesome game! From the awesome combos you can do on the battle field, the Chis you can obtain to make your character to the unthinkable, the helpful items you can receive from the market to help aid your team, to simply chatting with team mates on your mic as you share the battle grounds. There's no need rent this game, unless you want to continue to by rentals. Enjoy gamers!

Good but Bad

This game is fun in certain ways like the 4 player co op against hard enemies or hard quest. You have a variety of weapons but you have restrictions to use the weapon depending on your characters experience in the weapon type. They still didnt add any new combos when the old dynasty wars was out you had combos button combos and then when "6" came out it felt like the game downgraded. But the down fall is that your fighting by yourself which is not bad but these quests sometime are OD hard or the boss has a crazy amount of defense and health. I like how they put the "fake" bodyguard thing in there and tell them what to do ( Fight weaponry, Fight Officers, Fight Soldiers, or move around freely). You also have "RECYCLED MAPS" <--- Basically the same map just with different scenery or color. To UPGRADE your city takes forever unless you do what i did just make all your cards the same building. Finding materials for new weapons are hard to find unless you have the orb that lets you find rare spoils after killing an enemy. At least add different type of quest to it like what happen in between before the battles happened. There more problems but I'm done typing so yea...hope I didnt ruin anything for ya. If you want to play the game go ahead dont let this review stop you try it for yourself.

Quite fun

This game is actually fun once you get the hang of it. It did indeed got harder from the rest of the Dynasty Warrior games, but easy to grasp. For instance, the enemy knows how to hard much more this time ( Even knows how to dodge D: ). You can upgrade your city to obtain better things such as better healing items, weapons, chi's, and orbs for example and bring up to 3 other allied members with you to the battle field. You are able to carry up to 5 different items at once. Healing items can stack up to 10 usually and other items are usually from 5-20 such as throwing items. You can also change your allied members as you progress the game by unlocking more characters. You can change your main character also BTW if you wanted to, but that is gonna be a while before you can do that. Fury mode in this game is like turning into berserk mode. It is pretty interesting, but fun to use at the same time. Finding materials is a breeze because certain maps drop certain materials needed for you to craft whatever you are trying to craft. Usually, to craft certain star level item, you would have to go do a mission around the same star level. It has tons of different quests such as requests, crossovers, downloaded, and more. The battling is quite fast paced, but is very fun to me. The storyline is pretty much the same as the older series. The thing however that I do felt bad about is not being able to play 2-players. You have to play online to be able to play with other people. My siblings usually play together back then on the Dynasty Warriors series, but oh well. This game makes me think of the movies/comics "Wind and Cloud or "The Storm Riders". Anyways, I would recommend this game to players who would like fast paced battles or just enjoy the Dynasty Warrior series.

FUN but different

Well... the game is fun but it can get hard. The new "Fury" option in the game can help a little but can get annoying if the enemy officers have it so knock them out fast. Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce has a story behind it unlike the older Koei games.(that I played) They took out the spilt-screen feature from the game but added a mutiplayer online mode to play with your friend and level up. Also you can meet people online so they can help you complete your HARD quests. The new friendly officers feature allows you to control your team mates by giving commands to them. The City can let you buy things and upgrade your weapons and chi by collecting items on the battlefield(you also need money). You can float around once you upgrade the chi shop and get the right items to learn it.(and money). The lock-on feature can get VERY annoying so I use it uncommonly.

Loads of fun!

Strikeforce is a great improvement on the Dynasty Warriors franchise, there's alot of great new features although there are a few small things they took out that makes it a little flawed, for one, there's no offline 2 player unlike most of the series, not as many characters (although there shouldnt be AS much with the new Fury costumes anyway) and no create a character as well as a few other small things, but still provides hours of entertainment and challenge with heavily customizable weapons and abilities. Not to mention fun crossover cameo missions with Ninja Gaiden and Warriors Orochi characters. Some of the main things that made me get this game were the great improvement on graphics, (which were usually pretty terrible in the other games) and online feature which can compensate for the lack of 2 player offline, you can do quests with 3 other players online. The story doesnt differ much from the others mainly because i think they are based on real historic Chinese events (i think), but still, there's tons of quests as well as DLC soon to follow, with 3 stories (one for each faction: Wei, Wu and Shu) with each being extremely lengthy. The controls are easy to pick up and play yet can be very fast paced, and overall, this is an exhilarating game, and i recommend it to action gamers and DW franchise fans everywhere!

What was they thinking???

This game is horrible. I would not recommend this because you cannot find the items that you need to upgrade your weapon and the characters are too hard to beat. The characters you are with don't give you a chance to fight against the main character. You cannot get the items for floating in air...you can't get the items for anything in this game, they are too hard to find. It takes too many healing potions to get through one board. The character does not carry enough healing potions. There aren't enough options to build up your character. it is the same teams over and over. You don't get enough points to fill up the levels in the game. What is up with building up the city...I think it is a joke and waste of time. Even things you don't need. Dynasty Warriors used to be simple. You never needed a strategy book for these games, why should I start now? I never was disappointed in Dynasty Warriors like I am in this one. It is basically like all the other ones, never a new force...
