Kinda not what I expectedI bought this a while ago thinking it would be similar to the style of DBZ Tenkaichi 3 but the style was different and not as enjoying because of them having fighting and shooting ranges and it being to hard to escape combos was very frustrating for me and I didn't really want to play it anymore.

Overall, not bad, but, it has some flaws. To start with, the game isn't bad by any means... Annoying at times, but we'll get to the specifics in that in a bit. To start with, the good things about DBZUT. The battle system isn't awfully complicated, the character customization (moves and abilities, at least) is pretty neat, and story mode isn't too bad. Battle mode, naturally, was great. However, the game comes with plenty of flaws, too. The worst of them is the fact that Hero Mode has quite the difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game. This is made worse by the facts that one, there are -zero- checkpoints in any battles in Hero Mode, which means each time you die, you have to start all over again from the beginning of the fight. Keep in mind that many bosses in Hero Mode are multi-stage. Leveling in Hero Mode is also very difficult, as you get a very, very minute amount of experience in each skill per battle. As for character customization, the worst part about it is that you cannot very easily directly affect your character's development. You can't add points specifically, and can only control your additional point values by choosing the correct masters (which come with negative values for some skill leveling, too) and even then, you have to complete every single sparring mission with them in order to even use them for leveling. Sparring doesn't even grant any EXP for leveling either. The second worst part of Character Creation is the fact that you have to unlock every single article through Hero Mode's story missions, and on top of that, you have to actually look for the items on the map (which is basically just a giant, more annoying menu). The items are also very, very limited, making character customization difficult if you want a truly custom character. Additionally, there is no choice of gender or race offered. You're always forced to be a male Saiyan. You can also only have one of each Hero type, and must delete that character to make a new one. All this accomplishes however is deleting your character's stats, so, you get to keep your gathered items and the story missions aren't reset. To conclude, Dragonball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi certainly isn't the worst game I've played, but, it does have its annoying points and disappointing outcomes on certain things.

Watered down DBZJust purchased the game today at gamestop and returned it within hours. Graphics and visuals are good, but the control scheme is so watered down, it felt as if I was just button mashing the whole time. This game really requires no skill at all. I lost interest with this game real quick. I went back to my local gamestop and picked up the Budokai 1 & 3 hd collection instead and it was so refreshing to actually tap certain buttons in order to unleash combos and get into dragon rush battles. If you're thinking of getting any DBZ game for the ps3, I strongly recommend getting the Budokai 1 & 3 hd collection. I suppose Ultimate Tenkaichi would be more for a kid/teen that's a fan of the series wanting something simple.
