An unfortunate step down from its predecessor, DMC3, DMC4 sticks firmly to the typical DMC formula of purporting to be a fast-paced hack n' slash action game akin to "Bayonetta" or "Metal Gear Rising" but ultimately turning out to involve mostly dull, slow-paced area exploration and puzzle-solving. DMC3 was the only game in the series to rise above this stale formula and the only one to actually be a fast-paced hack n' slash. So if you like a typical DMC game, you'll probably like this, but if you're like me and you prefer *actual* action games, skip this one and just stick with 3. Its pretty graphically stunning, though, and the soundtrack is amazing.
