AcfA is amazing.

Despite what some of the other reviewers are saying I haven't had any lag issues in single player mode. The game is extremely hard at times but I believe that is what makes it fun and a good game. It is very fast paced and has amazing customization (main reason why I love it). In order to have a chance at being good at this game you MUST learn every detail about the stats of your mech. With a little patients you can beat it (I did). Ask me for help if you want. My PSN ID is my nickname on here. ^_^

Best mech combat ever!

This is my favorite mech game so far! Its so much faster than other mech games I have played in the past. The game has very fast paced combat action. It can be difficult at times but a game thats to easy wouldn't be very much fun. The extreme customization is awsome! The amount of parts to choose from is quite large but I still wish there were was more to choose from. I had hoped there would be an expansion pack with more parts or at least more missions. It has a decent enough story but lacks cinimatics. I have heard of lag problems from others but have not experienced any for my self. I would recomend this title to all mech fans who are tired of the other slow and option lacking mech titles..

Garbage

Can't believe I wasted so much money on this awful game. It is stupid-hard at certain points and breezy-easy at others. Unlike previous iterations of this series, building a light, fast, nimble AC is not a viable strategy. You need every single point of armour you can squeeze onto the thing. The plot is completely nonsensical, and if you don't invest in the right parts, you might as well just start over from the beginning. Did I mention the lag problems? Oh yes, it lags terribly. Especially on the large-scale battles against the huge fortresses. Awful game. I want my money and several hours of my life back.

Play it again for the first time! I haven't played console games for a while and this one brought memories back. This is one of the best Armored Core games. Better graphics but could be better. More challenging Next bosses, mechanic and better accessories! Overall, a good fun game to play!

Well, ever since the second installment of the series on the good old Playstation 2, I have enjoyed this series. If you're into customization and giant mechs, then this is for you. It's what Gundam tried to be. This game has really good detail and endless customization. The game however is extremely difficult at times if you're underpowered, or invest in the wrong parts, file over, and you have to restart the game. One of the MAJOR drawbacks to this game, is during the new huge epic fights they added against giant gunships or war machines, the game lags EXTREMELY BAD. I've also noticed if you're a fan of any sort of laser weapons like me, the game will lag so bad at points, it will just lock up. I had invested in the laser weapons and gotten to one of the huge gunship battles, in which the game was already lagging, but as soon as I fired 3 shots, the game instantly locked up. I'd love to purchase an Armored Core game, only if they would fix this issue.

Mech Lunatics Unite!

Well, for all seriousness, i am buying it tomorrow, but i know already what it will be like, i played AC4 and everyone says its better, i thought AC4 was the best, now they make one better? great googa mooga!!! this will be the best game i ever play, and i had no idea it came out last year... WHERE WERE YOU GAME STOP!!! Definately going on an AC Veteran's game list. wait a second, wasn't there something bad about it? oh no wait, ITS A MECH GAME what could possibly be wrong with a mech game that revolves around a Merc. i would easily blow up the world for cash, up front! now, don't get me wrong, they made a few boo boo's in the past, like, AC:MOA that was all to easy to beat, and the cloaking weapon shouldn't have affected yourself, what the hell was that? and it didn't even make you invisible, only invisible on radar. the fcs could still lock on though... that was really annoying, but once you were able to defeat Super nine ball, thats about all you really had to worry about. even in ac vs ac matches, especially against pilots who weren't able to defeat super nine ball.

Mechs built for fun!
TheTruth101

I've always love games and shows/movies that have to do with mechs ever since Gundam. I've played all Armored Core games ever since the first release and I have to say that this one is the best. The gameplay is much easier and simple to get used to compared to the previous AC titles, and anyone who is new to this game will find it easy to use and master. The customization is near unlimited, I just wished there were more parts than what the game offered, and the graphics are nice and smooth. Some of the missions require you to put a little more brain thinking and strategy, but sadly I think that the battles against the AFs are too short and too simple to take down. I really enjoy the co-op online, but in my opinion it's kind of hard to find someone to play it with if you don't have a buddy who plays this game since people online don't play it much. This game is great for mech fans and shouldn't be missed.

Armored Core: For Answer – A Retribution for the Indignities Done Unto the Series
ISA!
Chances are that if you are reading this then you have played an Armored Core game sometime in your life and it is equally likely that Armored Core 4 was not your first experience with the series. Armored Core has always been easy to understand, frustrating to learn and difficult to master. But, above all, Armored Core has always been rewarding to play. The core concept of every Armored Core game is basic- take missions, get paid, buy parts and repeat. As simplistic as this concept is it is truly the challenge, execution of concepts and mechanics of play that makes each game worth picking up. Armored Core: For Answer certainly delivers. AC: FA not only takes the world that was introduced in Armored Core 4 and expounds upon it but also introduces more fluid control response and many new features. AC: 4A not only offers veterans of the series a bit of hope for the future and a good bit of challenge; it also offers new comers to the series a good place to start. The Vanguard Overboost adds a fun little mini-game-esque feature, and yet manages to avoid being trite by only being present in a few missions. The addition of Cooperative play makes for a whole new level of game play. In the past, the only multiplayer feature available for Armored Core was AC VS. AC arena matches. The only exception is AC2: Another Age- but even the very few co-op missions in that game were “co-opetition” normally ending with the best pilot standing. Having a true Co-Op feature in AC:FA means not only can two experienced friends play together for fun, but a less experienced person can enlist the help of someone else in order to complete a difficult mission. This obviously could help eliminate some of the frustration that newer players may experience when they get stuck on a level. One cannot, however, join a co-op mission that you have not unlocked. This prevents players from jumping ahead of the game. AC:FA contains 45 mission- 40 of which are co-op enabled. The remaining five non co-op enable levels are decisive missions that directly affect the ending you will receive. In addition to the new co-op feature AC:FA also has the ever faithful versus- with up to 8 player support. Modes such as defeat all, defeat leader, and destroy objective breathe new life and grant added interest into the classic one on one AC matches of old. Also, the new Assault Armor makes multiplayer matches even more frantic than ever before. As for the core game concepts- story, graphics, controls, concept, and replay factor, AC:FA follows the tradition with most games of the Armored Core series. AC:4A presents a story that is patchy at best. However, the silent protagonist (or antagonist depending on the path you choose) that you play as is a mercenary and one has to think “would a mercenary really fully understand or care about what is going on around them”? You do missions for money- simple enough. The game presents to you a general idea of what companies do and do not get along with one another as well as who some of the major players are and what part you play in the fate of the world when the resolution has been met. Graphically, FromSoftware follows tradition again by delivering unparalleled, stunning pre-rendered CGI movies. However, the in-game graphic rendering is just a slight mark above the industry’s middle ground. Thankfully though, this is an improvement to AC4 where surroundings were very drab and borderline monochromatic. The sound in AC:FA is also an improvement from AC4- especially the music. As aforementioned, the controls of AC:FA are a lot more responsive and fluid than AC4 which makes it much easier to play even without having to set a custom control scheme; a feature that is available if you would like to completely remap the controller- always a plus. The concept of AC:FA is classic Armored Core- take missions, buy parts, make a better AC, repeat. The real joy and replay factor comes in the form of clearing the AI arena and achieving S rank on all missions

MISS LEADING

This game is not for the casual gamer, only for hardcore gamers. Yes this game does feature endless customizations and combinations, but there is a very steep learning curve average gamers will find frustrating. The story is a pile of garbage with no sense of inclusion with the player, and although the game is about 26 missions long, each mission only takes about 2 minutes to complete. You are looking at about a 6 hour game even with the side missions. The only thing that will keep you playing more is if you are the type of person who will replay the same boring campaign again just to sup up their mech. Multiplayer is a nice touch with standard deathmatch and a cool coop mode, but coop is only online. Controls are poor, with much experience needed to handle the mechs. All in all this is a pretty bad game that will only appeal to those who can get past the very bad design flaws of a bad story, very hard learning curve, short singleplayer, and hard controls.
