More Game than SimulationI'm not a normal game user; I'm not a gamer. I got SimCity because I wanted to see how different urban designs would look from a bird's eye view, and how they might play out over time.
But while SimCity can achieve this to some extent, its rules, instructions, and mode of play are aimed more at a gaming experience than at a design experience. For one thing, one person would never operate a city by oneself. So if you don't want to be overwhelmed, you have to play it slow, and there's always the possibility that something random will happen that will upset your design.
This is one of the best city builder games out there, but it falls short as a real urban design game that will allow a designer to experiment with different ideas and get realistic outcomes.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAMEI was so exited for this game, ever since I had sim city 4 I wanted a great predecessor which EA tried to do on the DS but do to a lack of processing power fell short for me. Then I heard around New years that there would be another Sim City and it was better than the original, it was getting game of the year honours from everyone, so i thought well if it is getting these awards it must be good. I pre ordered it and downloaded it to play but the servers weren't ready and there was no offline mode to begin with, so i waited and waited for about a week for them to come up. When they did it was a total disappointment, First you can't customize the region, Second the city sizes are a lot smaller, and lastly money goes away to fast when your mayor the only way you can make money are casinos. So overall very disappointed in EA and for the old sim city 4 fans stay away from this game it will tarnish your opinion of the original.

Great GameThis game received a lot of bad publicity at the begging but now it is a great game well worth the money. I have played SimCity since the first release named SimCity. This game holds true to the games legacy.

Sim City DRM edtionOk. Guys. I have always enjoyed PC gaming & Simaltion. I was looking forward to this game. This game has nice graphics and simaltion. It is buggy but not as bad as when it first come out. I like the birds flying buy and seeing your Sims run around your city also the game play can be fun. But u can't change the land scape like in past games. The online play is hit or miss deapending on if ur playing with some one cool or some one who just don't care. and your towns are much smaller now. I Love Sim City 2000 and Sim City for the SuperNintendo but this always on DRM and other things make this game feel dishonorible and like a low to the serise its a real shame cuz the game had lots of protencal. And it's even very impressive in some ways but in it curent sate I can't recomended. # DRM Must STOP!

A great gameWhen the game initially launched, everyone including me were mad about the servers always being full, and how the A.I.'s have been acting pretty stupid. The cities were small, the creators made way too many dlc's and made the game look bad. However, the creators did manage to fix many of their mistakes such as increasing server capacity and creating new servers, fixing the A.I.'s as much as they could, and start pushing to make the game better. A lot of people still ask for bigger maps, and I hope Maxis will be able to actually listen to us, and make the maps bigger, so that the game is much more fun. Now I'm very interested in the new "Cities of Tomorrow" expansion pack and looking forward to playing it. If the creators are reading this, we are begging for bigger maps and a little more tweaking with the online mode. Other then that, I would recommend anyone who is reading this, to buy this game now, and start building your dream city!

No ThanksNever EVER EVER EVER EVER will I buy a game that requires online access to enjoy... Ive been a Sim City fan forever n while I enjoy the OPTION of online play, being forced to find a connection wherever I am on my laptop is unacceptable... I do like to occasionally play games on my PC or PS3 with people online or sitting in the same room, but usually i prefer playing these kinds of games solo... great time killer... so I guess im stickin with my Sim City 4... better luck next time
