A fun yet flawed multiplayer experienceI definitely have not had a multiplayer experience like this before. This is a first-person(or third if you so choose) medieval multiplayer game. You can choose from different classes like the archer, the heavily armored knight and everything in between.
You start by choosing your loadout which can consist of swords, bows , axes and all that stuff. Then you are put on a team and then you are given an objective but it mainly is focused on you killing the other team. This is where the game shines. Parrying, blocking and outsmarting your opponent is thrilling and very rewarding. When this works this is a very fun game.
Unfortunately, there is still a bit to improve on in the game. Visuals don't have to be amazing to make an amazing game in my opinion but it does have to be said that this game doesn't sport the best graphics out there. It does look a little dated. Also, this game encourages huge clusters of fighting throughout the experience but when this happens there is very noticeable slowdown. My internet connection is quite good and my ping was low and I was still having a lot of lag which is very very distracting in a game like this.
Still, for the right price this game is definitely worth checking out. When you get into a good lobby there is nothing like this game out there. It's a very fun multiplayer experience.

Not sure...as a fan of the original half life 2 modification "age of chivalry" i bought the game ... but afterwards im not sure if it was worth it.. im also not sure if my review is helpfull to somone that never played the original one and maybe some negative points of mine dont bother some people at all...
so first of all it is not "bad" it can make a lot of fun but in my opinion its still on the lvl of a mod thats supposed to be free.. there are completly no positive gameplay changes whatsoever...
in fact in comparisment to the mod nearly nothing has changed at all (... grafics ofcourse... they got better,, but do not expect puking rainbows...)
the only gameplay changes i noticed:
as an archer you can zoom now while in aim mode and you can follow your arrow with the camera (both in my opinion bad changes because they make the game more unrealistic)
if you pick a crossbow you get a shield for some cover (you can not hold it you place it on the ground)
if you pick the middle armored dude you can use a 2 handed sword now and a charge attack (that does completly nothing more than running at normal speed and doing one hit while screaming (probably just for the looks))
if you pick heavy you can use a 2 handed weapon and a shield at the same time (was not possible in age of chivalry you could only use a longsword / mace with a shield) and you got 2 types of shields now (small and huge)
on many servers you dont drain stamina while running even while wearing plate (wich is kinda stupid in my opinion)
also there is a third person mode now (there was one in the mod too but nearly no server used that and it was kinda bugged) ... im really not a fan of that.. since it allows archers to camp without any fear of a backstab (because they can look behind them while aiming)... and a heavy with his huge shield up can still perfectly see everything..
a change that really brings something new was in my opinion a really bad idea if you kill people now you can get better weapon versions (for example a crossbow with more dmg but higher reloadtime) but im really not a fan of lvl systems in my opinion (yeah i say "in my opinion" alot) they make the game uneven and sometimes take fun away
and thats it..
thats what you pay for! nothing else changed...
(well some new maps but i mean most maps in aoc were user created)
everything that was bad in aoc is still bad
everything that was good is probably still good
but there is one thing that really made and makes me mad because its pretty unprofessional:
to hit from side is by default: left mouse key
block: right mouse key
mouse wheel up: poke
mouse wheel down: hit from above
middle mouse: arrowcam
w a s d: movement
now wheres my problem u might ask...
im not a big fan of the mouse wheel .. so no big deal (i tought) i tried to change it in options...
to hit from side: left mouse
hit from above: rightmouse
poke: middle mouse
but since they probably didnt even make the effort to look at this menu (i mean who would dare to change their perfect control keys *sarcasm*).. now my keys for zoom and arrowcam were gone... now can any grown human being tell me why i cant use alt for zoom and alt for block if there is absolutely no weapon in the game that has a zoom and the possebility to block? or why cant i use middle mouse for poke and middle mouse for arrowcam when im not able to shoot an arrow with a sword or any other meele weapon?
i myself like modding and i know how creating such a menu works and the simple act of creating a second keyset for ranged weaponsso the keys wont collide... would have taken about 50 seconds...
(probably wont bother anyone else that much but well this is my review ^-^)
the game is like i said not bad and you have to decide for yourself if it is worth your money.. it was not for me since i could play the free mod instead without loosing anything but since allready the mod gave me hours of fun gameplay i wont tell you not to buy it
(i hope that helped somone and sorry about my probably horrible english)

Almost a great game....Gameplay: A medieval first person shoot and done quite well. The game controls like other first person shooters no real difference here. The controls are responsive and it's not complicated. Unfortunately the game is online only. Though you can play "by yourself" it teams you up with bots and the bots AI is god awful so it's not a realistic option. For me, this is a huge con. I don't like being forced to play with people if I don't want to. Graphics: The graphics are pretty good, people saying they're "insane" or "amazing" is on something or they just don't have a very good computer. The game has solid graphics but it still falls short of something like Crysis 2 [a game that DOES have amazing graphics]. Sound: Good sound I guess, not a whole lot to add here honestly, it's what you would expect and it does it well enough. Lasting Appeal: Low. Unless you're REALLY into medieval games and I mean REALLY into them, after a few hours of this you'll set the controller down and the urge to play won't really come back.

Its a really good game.I played the game during the beta and just from that I really like the game. Although there are some bugs it will be fixed when the full game is released. Sadly its only for PC but hopefully it will spread to the consoles. I would be willing to spend $60 on this game. This is a first for games like this. There have been Medieval games before but this one is different. It is in first person. The others normally are not about just the action or they are to much like arcade games with the damage points popping out whenever someone lands a hit. The realism is amazing and the graphics are to die for. I would really like to see how far this game will go in the near future. I would recommend this game to anyone out there reading this.
