Product Description

Lord of the Rings: War in the North is a co-op Action RPG that immerses you and your friends in a brutal new chapter in the War of the Ring. Drawing inspiration from both the literary and film rights to world of The Lord of the Rings, players will bloody their axes on a wide range of deadly enemies and traverse both established and never-before-seen locations. The result is a journey that is both epic and intimate, familiar yet unexpected.
  • Action meets RPG
    • Intense, visceral, and satisfying combat. Rich, layered, and impactful character progression. In War in the North, you get both. Fight through the brutal realities of the War of the Ring, as you customize a new character in the universe Tolkien created. Immerse yourself and make your own mark on Middle-earth.
  • CO-OP at its Core
    • Middle-earth is too brutal for any one man to survive. Draw upon the strengths of each characters unique racial abilities and build your own fellowship of the three heroes to confront the growing army in the North. You must fight together or you will die alone.
  • An Untold Story
    • While much attention and focus has been placed on the journey of the One Ring, the assault on Middle-earth hits all corners of the map. War in the North turns our attention toward an integral part of the storyline that is grounded in details from the nooks and various appendices.

Fun game you can play with a friend/friends online or on your own (but a bit more challenging) and has some replay value as well. Harder modes are doable.

Really stoked I could find this on here. Gave up on Xbox backwards compatibility for this a long time ago. Stumbled upon this and didn’t have high hopes. Running Windows 10 on a Razer Blade 15 Base and couldn’t be happier! Get this while you can! Super fun and underrated!

Great Game, Worth Every Penny

I purchased the game last night and was pleasantly surprised when I started playing. I've played my fair share of RPGs, but this game honestly blows them out of the water. In most RPGs/MMORPGs, you start very slow, going to kill a few boars, or go run around town to find people before you go into an actual quest. This game throws you right into the action from the get go. You are summoned to a city of ruins right after leaving town and you learn to fight by actually fighting. The tutorial is built in so well that you don't even know it is one. Now, for the game play aspect, it's superior in every aspect. The description tells it well, in that Action truly does meet RPG and in an amazing fashion. The fighting style and RPG mix reminds me a lot of Batman: Arkham Asylum, in that it's a free flowing fighting style. You can go to multiple enemies at a time and gain the bonus for those hits and then finish them off with a final blow. if you don't swing at the right time, you'll find out by getting hit. It's a great engine to make it a truly immersive experience. During the game, in single player, you have the option to choose between 3 characters, and you can switch at each "check point", if you decide to. The AI engine for your comrades is much more advanced than most games. They fight and think like a human, not a programmed computer bot that is basically just a meat shield. As showed in my ratings, the graphics are great. The details are amazing. Although, hopefully obviously, it takes a lot of GPU to run this game well. However, even at it's lowest settings, it's still very enjoyable. As for audio, the same is seen (Or heard, I guess) throughout the game. The developers took their time to make sure what you are seeing on the screen matches up with what's heard through the speakers. The multiplayer aspect is yet untested, but I will surely update when I get father into the game. Overall, WB and SnowBlind made a very great game here. I'm not sure on lasting appeal, as again I've only played for a few hours in this massive landscape of game, but I have a feeling it won't be hard to have this game keep your interest. It is fully worth purchasing if you like fighting style games that are mixed in with an RPG.
