I’m a huge Zelda fan and this is my absolute favorite! It is so fun actually being able to swing the sword, and also fly a giant bird

The game was used but was in working order. I didn't realize that it wouldn't have the case art. I'll have to print my own and put it in the case because it looks like crap. The game itself is okay. It couldn't been an amazing installment of a legendary series but it's kinda so-so because of the wonky motion controls. The flying parts are cool if the motion controls are working correctly.

This was only the third Zelda game I had played through. My very first game was BOTW. I'm spoiled. This game is not BOTW, but thats OK! It was still alot of fun to play. I played through the button only controls. It took a minute to get used to it, the sword is mapped to the right stick. I tried motion controls and could not get it to do what I wanted it to do. Interesting story, took me about 53 hours to 100% the game.

I'll try to make this review tangible. If you've never played the game before, don't have a Wii/motion+ attachment AND don't want to emulate the game, this remaster is pretty fair. HD, stick replacement for the motion controls, native wide screen, and the motion controls are nice since you can reset them on the fly with the press of a button. Biggest complaint I have about this remaster is that it's a 1:1 remaster. No new quality of life improvements and what "improvement" that was added only cuts out maybe 4-5 minutes of flying, the motion controls have to be reset ALL THE TIME (worse than the original to account for the Joycons not having a sensor bar) but again you can reset whenever you want, resetting the motion controls doesn't always work properly, there's motion control drift in several menus, and it's unlikely the game will get any updates to fix any of these issues. Regardless of what could be seen as minor issues with one or two sectors, overall it's just an hd port and perfectly fine. Game itself has largely forgettable moments (sand sea, Fi, several late game dungeons, several items that have one time uses, etcetera) and motion controlled swings for every action, but it does have some great concepts that eventually paved the way for ideas made in Breath of the Wild, so it's sorta neat taking a look back and drawing connections (stamina, pseudo climbing, reusable bombs, durability system, upgrading items at the cost of world collectibles, the return of sword beams, introduction of Fi…). Again I'd say if this is a game you've either never played or don't mind paying the Nintendo price for this rough-around-the-corners game, then I'd say go for it. Definitely a good place to get into the more traditional aspects of the LoZ series with a lot of in-game help so you won't get lost if it's your first time.

Q:
So this originally had motion controls for Wii. will this be compatible for the switch lite since it does not have joycons
Steve llllllllllll1 year ago
A:
Yes, they have added a button only control scheme so it can be played with either joy cons or the buttons. From my understanding the R stick will control the slashing of the sword.

Q:
I know there will be an amiibo of Zelda and her Loftwing you can use on the game, but will other amiibo's have other features? For instance, I have a Ganondorf amiibo and a Twilight Princess Link. Will they do anything in the game?
Zaria_Lianna1 year ago
A:
If Breath of the Wild is any indication then yes, each amiibo will give some sort of item or feature whether it be small items like fish or bananas or bigger stuff like exclusive armor sets & weapons. Hopefully Skyward Sword HD will have plenty of stuff available from the amiibo's.
