yes. the account you use to buy the game has to be on all consoles. They can then use their account to play but the main account has to stay on all switch platforms you own.

I believe it's treated as a patch to the game, so, it should? I'm not sure, honestly. There is no enclosed code, so, I believe it's a patch.
