It’s a very good 2D platformer. One of the best out there. Recommend it to anyone who likes them.

The platform levels are on par with DK Returns/Tropical Freeze and the hub world acts as its own top-down adventure game. Each of the 20 stages has a unique “remix” to it, doubling the playtime without feeling like recycled/lazy content. I can’t recommend this game enough.

Absolutely fantastic platformer, can't wait to see more from playtonic especially after this one. Final titular level is definitely quite a punishing daunting task. Might turn off some, when the rest of the game is fairly forgiving by comparison. Even if you complete every level.

A Superb Sophomore Effort

After being disappointed in the first Yooka Laylee game, I was a little hesitant to give its sequel a shot. But after learning it would forgo its predecessor’s Banjoo Kazooie stylings and gameplay for a 2D side scroller in the vain of Donkey Kong Country, I was eager to give this fledgling franchise another shot. Very happy I did, as Impossible Lair presents one of the best platforming experience and challenges since Tropical Freeze. Happy to report that Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair is right up there with other Switch platformers like New Super Mario Bros, Yoshi and DKC.

Graphics are nice as well as the music. Gameplay is not too difficult except for the Impossible Lair stage which is difficult even with 48 bees to protect you. No wonder the game is called Impossible!
