This game is a decent enough game to just pick up and play as it is not difficult to pick a character and get started on racing, whether through one of the cups or just racing one track. Tutorial is not necessary.
The fact that it's easy to get started makes it good for the really young gamers out there, as they are not likely to care about anything other than picking their favorite Nickelodeon character and racing. That's pretty much all there is to this game, and for anyone looking for something a little more (unlocking characters, some boss racing to save the world or something of the sort, anything where you feel like you have to win the races), then look elsewhere. This game lacks content. The only unlockables are different cart parts, which does allow for a little customization; and cups, which to my knowledge doesn't include any new tracks. I will admit that I have not beaten every cup in this game, but I am pretty sure there are no unlockable characters.
The characters are very few, which is a shame. Not sure if some of the characters are even known by the youngsters today. I could be wrong. Being able to unlock characters newer to the Nickelodeon franchise would have been something to add at least.
The racing levels are not many, which to me is okay because there are enough to keep it interesting for a good few hours, even though a few levels are simply reversed.
The gameplay is nothing special. You don't even have to push the gas to go forward. Again, good for the really young, but not for anyone who wants a little more engagement.
Overall I'd say this game is an okay buy, but don't expect much if you plan to put hours into it. This is probably more appreciated in an arcade than in a living room.
