As a easy to learn but hard to master crossover fighting game, it does its job well and is fun and competitive. There is an online ranked mode, which is good because every modern fighting game should have one.
However, 14 characters in a fighting game is simply not enough, especially for a crossover game. For example, if you're a Binding of Isaac fan, you may be a bit disappointed that there's only one character from the game, Isaac himself, like I was.
The story mode has some small problems, but is still okay. The tutorial mode could be better, but as a fighting game any newcomer is going to have to look at external resources at one point anyways. Overall, you should buy this game if you want a more accessible fighting game that isn't as casual as smash, especially if you like code of princess, cave story, umihara kawase, striker gunvolt, shovel knight, or maybe anime in general.
