Only Hardcore Shmup Fans Need ApplyUltimate Shooting Collection is a compilation of 3 obscure, top-down arcade shooters that were released years ago on the Dreamcast and Gamecube. Included is Chaos Field, Karous, and Radio Allergy. All 3 titles have a Japanese anime aesthetic, but Radio Allergy stands out as being the most original and quirky. If you've ever played Raiden, 1943, or Ikaruga, you know what to expect gameplay-wise. The soundtrack is worth mentioning: Thundering drum and bass music for Karous and Radio Allergy, trancey J-techno for Chaos Field.
The problem is, these are basic ports of 1-player arcade games that probably won't hold your interest for long. There's no online leaderboards, the difficulty is steep, and the interface is dull. Note that both Karous and Radio Allergy are in a vertical, rectangular screen format to preserve their original aspect ratio--and the English translation is poor. You should also know that Chaos Field is a bit unconventional, as there are no enemy waves at all during the levels--just bosses.
While nothing is "ultimate" about this collection, it's a decent buy for hardcore shmup fans looking to pick up some interesting rarities. If you fall into that category, Ultimate Shooting Collection is for you. Otherwise, there's not much to write home about here.

3 Classic Milestone Dreamcast PortsMilestone doesn't make the best shoot 'em ups, but it does make some incredibly solid shooters that are well worth playing. In this collection, you'll be getting Radirgy, Karous, and Chaos Field. All 3 of these shooters go for $40-$80 a piece on the Dreamcast, so you're getting quite a value here. Karous is by far the best offering here, as it offers the best gameplay overall. Chaos Field is more of a boss rush, but offers some exceptional music and good visuals. Radirgy is the least exceptional of the bunch. In comparison to the other two titles, Radirgy feels slightly boring, and its 2D art isn't as attractive. Anyways, while none of the 3 games offered are even near the best the genre has to offer, Karous is well worth the entry price alone. A solid shooter collection for an incredibly affordable price.
