Set in the late 1980s, gamers will take on the role of the fearless mountaineer as he climbs the Himalayas on a quest to find his lost brother. As he ascends the mountain, he encounters an ancient curse: the souls of the people who died in that region and are stuck in limbo.
More DetailsLess Details
Revolutionary Wii Title: One of the first survival/horror games designed specifically for the Wii, Cursed Mountain creates a terrifying setting in a stylized, atmospheric manner.
Vertical Level Design: As players ascend the mountain, they will clearly see the summit in the distance, a looming reminder of their final destination, and they can also look behind to see how far they've gone.
Innovative Wii Controls: Designed to mimic the physical aspects of sacred prayer rituals, mantras, and gestures of Buddhism, combat is comprised of gestures that release the spirits from the curse. In addition, Cursed Mountain takes full advantage of the Wii functionality, supporting the Wiimote speaker, rumble pack and motion-sensitivity in a variety of triggered action events that mimic natural movements, such as climbing, running and pushing away enemies.
Environmental Hazards: As players climb higher, the mountain itself becomes an enemy. Prone to the travails of altitude sickness and oxygen deprivation, players may not be able to tell the difference between real enemies and hallucinated ones.
Extreme Setting: Without the security of GPS, cell phones or high altitude rescue teams, only the most intrepid climbers dared take on the Himalayas in the 80s. For better or for worse - once on the mountain, climbers could only rely on their experience and the contents of their backpacks to make it down alive.

ghostbustin' with buddha! This game is great for people who like a slow paced single player story. the controls work just fine, please be patient or the purification ritual doesnt work! in the game you will be climbing a mountain and stopping periodically at different locales where you must wander around and do some ghostbustin. everything about this games was perfect for me but once i beat it i dont see any reason to play it again. however i am not going to sell the game because its so unique and good quality art direction, storyline and gameplay mechanics.

Great gameAwesome game. Honestly has a lot of creativity in the storyline but could have faster healing capabilities. Ghost are fairly creepy but the intense search and exploration for his brother is what brings you back to replaying it. Although wii controller makes it slightly frustrating to do the rituals. I highly recommend in buying this game and playing it at night just for the thrill.

is it really that good? This is my full review of cursed moutain for the wii I actually bought this game brand knew 10 dollars in gamestop when they had a sale going on.....this game is basically considered a “classic horror game” I personally have to say that I didn't really enjoyed the game that much; and I will give out my own opinion about this game...
first is the story line, I personally did not like the story, at first it was good because your a guy looking for your brother in the high mountains in a scary environment, but when they add religious, Buddhism into a story line, I get a bit disappointed because I am not even into that kind of stuff, and the game has the whole culture stuff to it, so for me personally I wasn't into the story line....some people may liked it but I got bored when they mentioned the Buddhism....
second is the gameplay, just like what many people has already said in this review, it has that classic horror game, there's ghosts, scares you, etc...lets just say, it has that feel like a silent hill game or a resident evil game to it in the beginning of the game, but later on you do get a bit bored cause even though the game is meant to show you about the ruins or its “classic horror game” I tend to get bored since all you really do is walk round and wait till something happens...
third is the controls, this is a major flaw to the game.....a HUGE! Disappointment, I had major problems with the controls, especially when you have more moves that you have to do in order to kill the ghosts, half the time the motion controls doesn't respond to the movements when your doing exactly what you have to do.....
fourth is the graphics, come on you guy's know this by now its the wii.....I personally don't care about the graphics, there's parts in the game that looks really good, and some not soo much....
but overall this game does has its little moments, and thats it, I give this a 4/10(fair)

Don't underestimate this game!!I've played a lot of survivor horror games and they're all great - with Fatal Frame Crimson Butterfly being the scariest and they all freak you out. They each have a little bit of a different feel to them. With Condemned, it is a realistic feeling game and you feel like being stuck in the middle of the night in abandoned buildings with killers around can happen to you, with the Silent Hill series, you feel like you're living in a nightmare world and with Cursed Mountain...this game will flat out give you chills, not just every 15 mins or so...just about every minute!! This game wasn't advertised a lot and Gamestop doesn't carry a lot of copies but don't be fooled, this game is scary!! I played 3 different Silent Hill games and although they were great games and all are scary this game is scarier! I paused playing SH 3 for 5 days while I played CM and I was saying SH 3 and SH Origins were the scariest games I played....till I played Cursed Mountain (FF has now even surpassed CM). Cursed Mountain is not for everyone... it is a simple game and probably to simple for most people but for survivor horror fans you should like this one because it will constantly give you chills wondering when the next ghost will appear - FF does the same thing - and so this game you will like. It is fun to swing the remotes to kill the ghosts...the story is great and easy to understand and the game flows nicely and is easy to play...almost to easy. The negative...it is only about 8-9 hours long so I recommend buying this game used and if you have the Gamestop E newsletter wait till they give a 20% off coupon on used Wii games. Like I said, it is not for everyone because it is not a hard game but for horror fans I recommend this game.

A Traditional Yet Fresh Survival Horror GameIt's about time we had a traditonal horror game come out. And by that I mean that this game is not about running around and shooting monsters/zombies/ or aliens. This game (so far) has all the elements that the original survival horror games like the early resident evil games and silent hill provided. It provides and outmosphere of loneliness and hopelessness. Pros: Unique storyline, Interesting Control Scheme, Great balance between Motion Controls and Button Controls, Creepy Outmosphere Cons: Montion Control may be unresponsive at times, The lighting is a bit too dark at times, Gameplay may be too slow for some The storyline is unique and definitely something I have never encoutered before. You are alone on a journey to find your missing brother, and the ghosts of that mountain are out to get you for trespassing. The gameplay may be a bit slow for some players, but at the same time it sort of adds to the creepy atmosphere of the game. The sounds are amazing, specially if you have sorround sound. It will feel as though there are really ghosts in you room whispering to you. The action and fighting sequences does not rely completely on motion controls and that is a good thing, that way you don't have to worry about memorizing too many gestures. Also the control scheme is pretty simple and easy to get used to. Load times are short. Word of advice, when you start the game increase the lighting bar on your options menu to the fullest, the game may get too dark at times. Overall, really good game that everyone should at least try once, even if its a rental.

Cursed Mountain is an excellent scary game for the WiiI have been playing Cursed Mountain for a few days now and am very impressed by it. Cursed Mountain is original in content and very scary. I like the fact to fight or kill enemies one uses rituals, spells, not the usual predictable shooter stuff. The game is amazing to look at great setting in rural mountains, the ghost and evil spirits, I am so glad I bought this game. I am so glad Cursed Mountain is only for Wii as Xbox and Playstation owners are envious and missing out on a great and unique game. I am already hoping for a sequel to this unique survival horror game to Wii owners, go get this game it is really good. Cursed Mountain really will creep you out in sequences where you must ward off evil spirits that wish to kill you, the gloom of the mountains, the isolation all works to scare a person really good.

You will definitely get spooked...I just picked this game up when it came out and I played for a little bit of it and it freaked me out. Call me a sissy all you want, but there are small cut scenes from picking up a "ice climber axe" to going to certain doors and also a scene where a ghost just pops out of nowhere. Yesterday, I played it again and got pretty far. Things get even more interesting later in the game as you progress. Seems that your "ice climber axe" is your only best friend from pushing ghost aside. Every horror game, you will always be curious about certain things like, seeing what ghost or creature is heading to and when you follow it, things will get worst and worst, but you have to face it anyways. This is a taste of a horror game, but I know there will be more just like this later in the future like "the grudge" and "silent hill". Two hints for this game: on options, the brightness is somewhat in the middle, adjust it all the way up because when your in a house, you can't see anything and a lit candle won't save you at all. Also, don't run because you will attract the ghost really easily.
