Gamers can use the DS touch screen to solve devious puzzles, overcome deadly traps and unleash magical powers with an arsenal of arcane items like magic potions, enchanted rings, dragon scale armor and an enchanted wand.

As a young half-elf, a player will explore the ancient mountain-citadel of Zharrharag, a massive Dwarven fortress riddled with ancient treasure, powerful weapons, and waves of ruthless enemies.

Gamers will find and master thirteen mystical weapons including magical swords, deadly crossbows, and a powerful war hammer as they fight through waves of legendary beasts each with their own tactics and powers. Rated 4 out of 5 by BigRich from Great dungeon crawler I have to say the graphics are mediocre, not much use of the DS hardware. It runs off of the DOOM RPG engine so its much like a fantasy turn based version of a Doom game (besides the entirely different story). The story itself is decent but not anything amazing, where this game excels is gameplay. I found it really comfortable to play and the controls were great, even without the stylus, I prefer without it. The price of only 2.99$ makes it a must have. Expect 6-10 hours of gameplay depending on how you play. Its definitely worth the money.

While you meet a lot of interesting characters along the way it doesn't make the plot feel rather uninspired or cliche. ========= Gameplay ========= Orcs and Elves is a first-person turn based grid-based dungeon crawler. The game is strong in terms of its gameplay with enemies only taking actions after you do. Though certain enemies may be able to attack and move or travel multiple squares at once if they are faster than you. ========= Graphics ========= Graphically Orcs and Elves is sort of mixed. The environments are 3D, but all of the characters and a majority of the items are 2D. This creates an interesting style that isn't ugly, but it doesn't feel particularly impressive or immersive. ========= Sound ========= Orcs and Elves is a rather quite a game to be honest. While many objects in the game generate sound effects they are rather limited to the crackling sounds of a burning fire or the sound of one of your weapons. The game is almost entirely silent as you walk down empty passages or cross empty rooms. There are a few tracks, but they play rather rarely even for this short game. ========= Lasting Appeal ========= Orcs and Elves offers relatively little in terms of replay value. You could replay the game on a higher difficulty, but there isn't anything else you could do with the game after you beat it. ========= Scores ========= Story: 5 Gameplay: 8 Graphics: 6 Sound: 4 Lasting Appeal: 1 Overall: 6 (Not an Average)

Rated 2 out of 5 by slmethel from A Short Distraction While the graphics on this DS Game were of fair quality I did enjoy the game play and was able to finish the game. I wanted more action play. But, the ending left me feeling unappeased. This game would be fun for pre-teens, maybe. If you can get this game for a cheap price, take it. It'll give you something to do...other than taking out the trash!

Rated 4 out of 5 by DarthMetalHope from Fun, Challenging, and worth the $3! I remember playing this game a while back and not getting into it at all for some strange reason. I just recently bought it and man I just cant put it down. This game is a must have for anyone who loves dungeon crawlers, specially the old school ones on PC. It can be a challenge at times which I gladly welcome and I love searching for all the secrets, items, and monsters on every floor for the extra bit of xp you can receive for doing so. So yea, if youre into dungeons crawlers and exploring every crevice and corner of levels then this is the perfect game for you! The graphics arent TOO much to look at most of the time, but you get over that pretty quickly and learn to appreciate it for what it is. And for $3 you cant go wrong!

Rated 4 out of 5 by kjdfadsjels from Pretty Good Game My favorite part of this game is the trun-based combat and movement system. It adds an addictive level of strategy to the game that makes it unique. The graphics aren't that great . Some of the scenery isn't too bad, and it isn't bad enough to make the game any less enaging, and in a way they do kind of make the game simple and easier to play short amounts at a time. It has a lot of enemies that vary pretty greatly in terms of strength. There's also a wide variety of weapons, potions, ales and other items that make it pretty intriguing as well. Its not the easiest game, in fact some parts will take multiple tries to get past, but it isn't ridiculously hard, and could take a couple weeks to beat. It is a generally good game and i would reccomend it pretty highly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Serastearblade from Ultimate dungeon crawler for DS. I first picked up this game expecting a three dimensional dungeon crawler from a first person perspective. Although it did not meet these expectations it was very good anyway. The problems with it at first were that unlike "Resident Evil" or "Quake" it had only four directions and was turn based. This was a quick turn off. However it was picked back up by the combat system which just wouldn't work in a non turn based system. My friend repeatedly tries to persuade me to play Dungeons and Dragons with him. I dislike D&D because I have a small imagination and can't picture the game in my head, so all it is to me is rolling dice. This is the same reason I play Dragonfable over Adventure Quest, because in Dragon fable I can see my character out of combat. In Orcs&Elves it provides a dungeons and dragons like game, only you don't have to roll and you can see your surroundings from a first person perspective. The game is very good and starts you out with a simple wand and sword. You can use the wand a limited amount of times, however it gives you long range, the sword is infinite but only hits one space in front of you. This game also has a pokemon like grid system, only from first person perspective. Throughout the game you will gain new items and weapons, and will be pitted against bosses of all sorts, shapes, and sizes. Although it is dragged down by bad storyline, animations, and other small nuisances it has great potential and I think that if a sequel were made and they worked out these things it could become one of the best games ever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by bibi246 from Good game but... When i first bought this game it looked really good, but it was short and the monsters were easy to kill. Then again the game was great i really enjoyed playing it, the graphics were not the very best though. As the game progresses the monsters do get harder which is a good thing, also there are lots of hidden treasures in just about every level. The hardest thing was probably the boss at the very end, it was ridiculously hard! It was great! Also when the game is over you can walk the whole dungeon again and see what you missed or kill more monsters that you might have not gotten to. So if you like a semi-good story line with killing monsters and finding treasure this is the game for you!, If you care a lot about graphics and storyline i don't recommend you get this, but don't get me wrong the graphic are now horrible either, basically the screen shots are exactly what you see in the game, it's not that bad right?!
