Brilliant Game, Great Source MaterialFighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is a first-person RPG based on the gamebook of the same name which, fortunately, the developers make great usage of the source material. If you are familiar with the gamebook, then you'll recognize characters, places, and events all brought lovingly to life in the game. In terms of comparison, this game can be likened to a portable Elder Scrolls or Hexen. The game is played through a first-person perspective, battle is played out in real-time, and you have full-control over your character. If you've played any first-person shooter on the DS, such as Metroid Hunters of Call of Duty, then you're already familiar with how this game controls. Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain may not be a perfect game, but it's an enjoyable dungeon crawler with hours of gameplay and more than enough ways to play your character. I felt this game was a refreshing addition to the already stable DS RPG library. Highly recommended.
