Dynamic Gameplay

This game takes you all over, from simple tropical scenes to shape stony cliffs. It's filled with ancient temples, high tech labs, and ancient high tech temples! The gameplay itself is simple to learn, but still complicated enough to keep the puzzles interesting! Needing to switch between Characters and learn four sets of fighting moves really steps up the combat, and for the less-combative players, the enerbeam system allows you to easily remove enemies without long fights!(though some battles do have to be fought) Three different series of collectibles guarantee you wont run out of game to soon, and to top it all off, completing the game unlocks a hardcore mode, so extreme gamers can do it all again with more skill! Even though the altered character style turns some fans away, if you like Sonic The Hedgehog, then this is really worth a try!

Guilty pleasure

I wouldn't recommend this to many people as this is a guilty pleasure of mine. The only people I'd recommend this to is kids. Many teenagers and adults would most likely find it overly monotonous and repetitive, not to mention slow, and I totally get where they're coming from. So, what do I find agreeable in this game? The fact that you get to choose between 4 characters (although not all the time, sometimes it'll only allow you to choose 1 or 2, but those times are far between.) The combat is quite fun to me, despite the limited amount of moves, they can be intense and watching the animations can be fun. Speaking of the animations, the animations in the cutscenes are great looking. Despite the graphics themselves being subpar, due to low quality textures, I find the aesthetics of the environments that Sonic and his friends travel through to be quite gorgeous. And the character models are very well constructed. The exploration factor in this game is great, a number of places to travel to and to find hidden goodies that can upgrade your character. Great for rewarding your sense of curiosity. The upgrades aren't all great, but I found myself heavily using the ground pound with increased range, making combat have at least something different in it. The mach speed sections are a lot of fun, despite those times having questionable framerate. I nonetheless get immersed during those sections. If you have kids and need to get them something for their Birthday and they enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog, this wouldn't hurt to get for them.

Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric was set to be a prequel game towards the new spinoff "Sonic Boom" and to be frank this early, Sonic Boom isn't a bad game but the reasoning for this poor score is the fact that it's not a good Sonic Game. This game core gameplay is platforming and high speed action, and by high speed you're simply running in a automatic event while dodging stuff. But the main issue is two, never co-aside with each other. The game tells you when to go fast, or when to do platforming; going against the main formula of what makes Sonic, Sonic. By taking out what effectively made Sonic stand out, he's nothing more than a basic platformer. Yes, there's more to this game like FINALLY playing as muilit characters and the new combat, but all that can decrease over time. I simply can't recommend this game, especially as Someone's FIRST Sonic game.

Gameplay is terrible with bad voice acting and graphics. The controls are not always responsive and sonic and his friends run so slow. This game is trash.
