Slightly Weaker Entry to the Tales Series

Not my favorite of the Tales Games but still worth playing. Gameplay is similar to older titles in regards to the map but the fighting style is similar to pre-Xillia but character.attacks are not as impressive. Names (I'm looking at you Kohaku Hearts)and story are not as in depth or detailed as oyher Tales entries released around this time. This game is also only in Japanese with English subtitles which does make this game different to other titles in the series released in NA which usually include both English and Japanese or just English. Gameplay overall seemed shorter than other Tales Games.

A Great Remake of a Great Game

They took a great game and made it better. The Tales series always has had deep character development and this game is no different. For spoiler purposes I will not explain why the love relationship between the main character and Kohaku seems forced. The battles were fun and there was better monster design than in the latest Tales games on the PS3. The game is voiced in Japanese, but I don't really care that they couldn't voice it in English. The fact that they imported the game to the US is enough to make me happy. It is not as long as some of the other Tales games, I took under 30 hours to beat it. It is a great game and if you are a fan of JRPGs I wholeheartedly recommend it.

A fantastic JRPG

I really cannot say enough good things about this game. The game has a great story, a really diverse, colorful cast of characters and a large vibrant world. The game has a lot of dialogue and offers a lot of different interactions between the characters, ranging from being comical to heartfelt. The game is Japanese audio with English subtitles only but it does not distract from the presentation. The combat is free flowing; giving you a large circle to freely move around in and attack with your party. There are a lot of options pertaining to strategy that you can assign to your party members, including how often they should use special powers, how close to the fray you want them to be or what kind of role in combat they should fulfill. Sometimes enemies can get in some rather cheap shots, but it doesn't happen extremely often. The game has a very long story, often continuing when you think it is about to end. Overall, the game's colorful story and characters make for a great adventure!
