Alright. The pros of this game.
1: The soundtrack. I have yet to get this game, although I am getting it soon. I had this game a really long time ago, and I remember LOVING the soundtrack. Some really good listens would be Un-Gravitify (The main theme performed by Cashell) Into Traffic, Spiral Madness, Maybe Babylon Gardens..? That was my least fav song on the soundtrack.
Pro 2: The voice-acting and cutscenes. The cutscenes in this game are AMAZING to look at and not as good as Sonic Colors or Sonic Unleashed in my opinion, but they still are really easy on the eyes. As well as the voice acting, which all the people who voiced Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the returning characters, known as the Babylon Rogues, Jet, Storm, and Willow, (I think that's her name? The female Babylon Rogue.) did great on. I always thought that the voice actor/actress for Tails in SA1 and SA2 wasn't all that great, Tails' lines sounded very strained and high-pitched in that game. Anyway, my point is that I can actually listen to him now without cringing! (No offense to the actor/actress who voiced Tails in SA1 and SA2.) Knuckles and Sonic sound as they always have, great performances by their actors.
Pro 3: The gameplay. Ok, ok! Don't grab your pitchforks yet! I just want to say this. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THE WIIMOTE. I personally was able to get used to the controls after practicing for a while, but of course that's just me. I would definitely reccomend the GameCube controller for this game to newcomers. Now, I really like that they did away with the air mechanic from the first Riders game. It really put a dent in the gameplay. But, I do like the upgrade mechanic that replaced it in ZG. Rings aren't that hard to find in this game, as long as you practice for a little bit, you'll be upgrading you're EX-gear (Extreme gear/The hoverboards used in this game) pretty fast.
Now onto the cons.
Con 1: The story. Sonic Riders ZG was a bit... lacking in the story section when push came to shove. It seemed shallow and short, accompanied by a lot of cutscenes and not much gameplay. The sound of the voice actors was also a little quiet, but that's just a small gripe.
Con 2: The lack of tracks. The actual racing tracks in ZG were few and far between, I think there was around 7 or 8 tracks present in the game? Dunno, anyway, these tracks were full of a lot of different ways to use the Gravity mechanic, a feature that I personally think is pretty dang awesome looking if pulled off correctly. Sadly though, the tracks got a bit repetitive after a while, especially if I was stuck on one certain track, though luckily that didn't happen a lot.
Alright, that concludes my review, I give it a 4.6 out of 5.
No: I don’t recommend this product
