Product Description

The story follows Harry Mason, who wakes up after a car accident to find that his daughter Cheryl is missing. Harry will wander the snowy streets of Silent Hill searching for answers of her disappearance, but when the world freezes over, he will need to escape the lumbering demons that haunt his steps. Harry will need to navigate both worlds to discover the truth; not just about his missing daughter, but also the type of person he actually is.Silent Hill's debut on the Nintendo Wii makes the fear more real than ever before. Players will be drawn into the mysterious town using the Wii Remote as a flashlight and a cellphone as they search for clues. Choices they make will shape Harry Mason, as well as the people he meets and the places he visits. The enemies evolve as well, taking the form of the player's deepest fears. Silent Hill promises to be more terrifying than ever, also bringing the fear to PS2 and PSP.
  • Control scheme designed to enhance the core theme of the franchise of exploration of dark, atmospheric versions of real world locations while maintaining a frightening, exciting andimmersive experience.
  • A cellphone based UI that acts as a story telling device, map, puzzle helper, camera for a moreseamless transition in the game that doesn't interrupt game play.
  • All new psych profile system based on Keirsey personality profile that will change game play based on the actions taken in the game.
  • The evolving evil in the game adapts to the player both physically and how they attack you to give the player the most frightening experience possible.

Quality title, lacking in the scares department

I can tell that the game has had a lot of love put into it, but the areas during which you are chased by monsters are the weakest element to me due how the creatures cease to be scary after seeing them so much.

Silent Hill for everyone

I feel that Silent Hill: Shattered Memories did a phenomenal job creating an engaging experience for people new to the Silent Hill franchise and returning fans. With the removal of combat there is no fear of hearing that static or bumping into a powerful enemy walking through the town, but they doible down on creating an unsettling and unwelcoming atmosphere with a healthy dose of environmental storytelling. The story feels more like a psychological thriller than a horror title, but I think it does it extremely well and it makes sense considering how Silent Hill affects its visitors. Puzzles are some of the best as they will be your main challenge rather than combat, so they went all out on em. The chase segments are honestly pretty boring and infuriating as I ended up taking a wrong turn and ran for a solid 3 minutes only to hit a dead end at one point. While they do happen frequently they arent enough to sour the experience as a whole in my eyes.

This game is not scary. You cannot attack any of the creatures. You just run once the ice world comes which is the only time you face any peril. It is kind of neat that you have the psychologist sections that can influence the game but other than that, it is not worth it.

A good twist on a horror classic.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a re-imagining of the 1999 PS1 classic. The premise of the game is the same, and you will meet some familiar characters, but everything else is completely different. This is how many remakes should be done, by taking it into a different direction, rather than rehashing the same game. The game has an amazing story! The graphics are some of the best I have seen on a Wii game, and the gameplay is exceptional. The Soundtrack by Akira Yamaoka (his last time contributing to the series) is just fantastic! However, the game has some problems; such as the fact that IT ISN'T SCARY, and the chase sequences get quite repetitive. It is still good game and I reccomend you pick it up!

Though the game lacks combat (something i hadnt come to terms with until half way through the game, i was still worried that i overlooked a crow bar or something near the beginning), it is actually way more fun than i thought it was going to be. Very creepy, and a good story line. I like silent hill homecoming better though, because it is scarier and has combat.

I have been a long time silent hill fan, i've never had nightmares from any game before.. but after reading that psychology warning, silent hill somehow wound up scaring me beyond my wildest thoughts. no, but seriously, i can't seem to bring myself to play it if i'm alone and i think possibly the fact that i can't fight back in the game. the only option i have is run. kinda makes it more realistic in the fact that if it were to REALLY happen, no one in their right mind would try to stand their and fight these beasts/creatures like they're some superhero crime fighter. I'D RUN FOR MY LIFE as well. lets just say for those who havent played it, if you play it at night, fully dark room, surround sound, and you first encounter the 'evil'.. it lets you run from them and it says 'press this to look beind you' .. i was thinking to myself, "no .. no thanks, i dont want to see whats chasing me down this dark ally i'd much rather just get away" then.. soon after i had to stop playing it.. anyways, i'm extreamly pleased with what Wii has done with the silent hill story/saga yet i too wish i could some way 'fend' for my life.. like a wooden board or pipe or something.. guns are a little much for dream world perhaps, but we will see what happens next time they put a game out : ) i know i'll buy it
