Rygar was one of my favorite games on the PS2. It was awesome...a great remake of a forgotten game. This one comes close to that at best. I had been looking forward to this game since I had heard about it, reserved it, and got it the day it came out. This will be the last time I buy a game without first checking the reviews. The Gameinformer Mag was right on in it's review. Wish I would have read it first. The graphics are maybe slightly better, but not by a lot. I know the Wii isn't really "next gen" standards, but still, it could have been a lot better. It really looks like a port of the PS2 game. The controls are in no way as good as they were on the PS2. They're choppy, stiff, and a little boring after 5 minutes. Nothing is done new with the controls. If anything, they were dumbed down. The PS2's were more fluid and easily combinable. This one doesn't come anywhere close. The story line is laughable. Horrible voice overs, and a plot that really feels way too cliche and so done already that it's not even enjoyable. Not really much more to say about that. As far as the challenge goes, it's typical. Not too hard, not too easy. It wouldn't be hard to run through it fairly easily without getting too stumped on any particular part. Overall, if you were curious about the game, rent it, or buy it from Gamestop used. That way, you can take it back in 7 days and get something else with your money. If you have never played the PS2's and didn't really know anything about the franchise, this might be a little more enjoyable. My advice would be to grab another game with your bucks and pick up the PS2's version. You'll definitely get a lot more enjoyment out of it. I'll end with reiterating to buy used or renting. And hey, if you do happen to like it, then great, you got a game for a little cheaper than new, but if you realize I was right, you still have the 7 days to get your money back or switch it for something more enjoyable.
