This is a very very fun game for anyone who enjoys the world of fishing. Everything in the game is excellent. As for the controls, it is A LOT easier to reel in your line by just holding in the C button. The fish are all very cool because you never know what you're going to reel in, but most of the time you can predict what you are going to catch as you catch a lot of the same fish a lot of the time. Just buy new bait from the store in the game to catch different fish. There are a ton of different places to fish like Japan and North America, and even on the ocean off of a boat in Hawaii! There are even over 200 different kinds of fish to catch. I would definitely rate this game an overall 10. It is so fun to play and even to watch someone else play. You should definitely go pick up this game right now. It only costs $30 anyway.

Not a fishing game

I was hoping to get a fishing game that had some realistic fishing. This is far from it. You can use the nun chuck to make a reeling motion, but you will find very quickly that it does not work well. They do give you the option of using the buttons in place of the realistic motion. The casting and hooking motions of the controller do work well, so at least that part is good. The story line starts you out as an aspiring fisherman, but they introduce it in an odd way with a mystical "Gramps" who will be guiding you. After you spend 20 mins reading what he has to say (no spoken audio!!), you start fishing. You will not be alone, though. You get to take your pet cat/dog with you. When you finally get to go fishing, you are limited to a very small area to move back and forth in along the bank/boat/etc. to fish. That is when you can move. Remember your pet that you brought along? They will do something useful once in a while like find bait for you, but most of the time they are just in the way preventing you from moving. There is no mystery where the fish are. You can see fish in the water, all you have to do is throw the pole in. If you don't get close, don't worry, the fish will come to it. A day lasts about 10 mins, and the seasons last about 5-8 of your "days". At least it moves fast. Basically, the story line and graphics are designed for young kids, but the controls are too complicated for my kids to master (7 and 10). There is a multi-player option, but when you get more than one person playing the screen gets very crowed and it becomes difficult to tell when to do what. Also, refer back one paragraph to controls. I have played it for about 2 hours, and seriously doubt I will touch it again. That is, except when I go trade it for a better game (hopefully). I would not recommend.

I can watch a bobber anywhere
Discouraged Fisher

I was sorely dissappointed with this fishing game. I played a simulation about 8 years ago on the PC that was better. The only part they really got right was the actual fighting process, which is a little fun but very inconsistent. You can catch a lunker without any problems then have a 2 ounce minow break your line with the same pole. There is basically zero challenge in hooking the fish. There is no underwater camera and you are only fishing with bait. Since there is no underwater camera, you don't see any of the action. So, pretty much, you cast out a bobber at a "fish shadow" and see what you get. Don't try to judge the fish type based on it's shadow. It can look like a whale and be a one pound eel. If that's not easy enough for you, check your cell phone to see what bait will work in that region. Save some money and throw a bobber on a string in your backyard.
