For a launch Wii game, it holds up surprisingly well. Unless you've played Excitebots, you've probably never played a game quite like this. Unlike most racing games, Excite Truck is not necessarily about getting 1st, but getting enough stars to increase your rank. You increase your rank by placing higher in races, doing stunts, and carving your own path through the sandbox-like tracks. This game is probably best viewed as a toy, rather than something you're going to spend a lot of time on; there isn't much content and the motion controls combined with the ridiculous physics are a little too unpredictable to take too seriously. However, these percieved weaknesses are probably the game's greatest asset. Trucks are flying around at ludicrous speeds, off of ramps and through drifts. Taking riskier paths through trees and trickier landscape can be an incredible rush. Crashes are pretty frequent at first, but always start you off with a boost, so you never feel like you fall too far behind. This is a very silly game that puts fun so far above anything else that it's hard not to like it at least a little.
