Until this game went into the Wii console. Here is my review. I hope it is helpful! Challenge: 8 - It is not a very hard game although it can be a bit challenging to navigate through as most of the terrain is usable. There is a guide “arrow” to help you along which simply gives you the direction towards the end of the level. The most challenging parts I have had were: Finding all of the Grub larvae and Leaf Crickets, Web hopping, and two words… Rattlesnake and Struggs. They are tough. Graphics/Animation: 9 - While the human characters lack detail and appear “cartoonish”, the creatures themselves and the terrain are beautiful and detailed. Seeing the world through the arachnids’ point of view is beyond creative and everything is scaled to suit such. This is definitely an eye pleaser. The camera does get a little iffy in small areas and if you are crawling down a tunnel and switch from floor to wall to ceiling, it can get confusing at times as the camera angle switches. Length/Story line: 9 - The game was finished in roughly 6 hours. The story itself did not lack much, considering you play arachnids who have eventful meetings with Struggs and Wade as they keep coming acrossed one another throughout the game. The game itself gives you the creatures’ perspective throughout. For what it is, the length is honestly perfect considering that for it to continue on would mean a never-ending cycle which would end up tediously dull. Controls: 9 - There are some issues if you are using older Wii-motes while playing. Like the finishing moves appeared to be hit or miss until we switched to a newer wii-mote and nunchuck and were able to nail the moves. (This especially helped during the first battle and the final one.)Interface: 10 - The updated goal menu helps keep you updated on moves and current goals. There is also a menu that you can access to check out your creatures’ moves, collections of various kills and gathered grubs/ crickets. Very handy and easy to use. Sound: 9 - While unrealistic in the sounds the creatures make. (Some sound like bears, lions, etc) they are rather fitting. Even the developers mentioned that the sounds were not true to the creatures, but they did add a bit of depth to them. And the soundtrack is simple yet fitting as well.Recommend: Yes. All in all, visibly appealing. The terrain and creatures that make it up, as well as the finishing moves, web hopping, digging, cutting etcetera, really make the game what it is. The dialogue is rather amusing as well. (Leave it up to Hopper (King Kuppa for you Mario Bros. Fans, Land of the Dead) and Thornton (Bad Santa, Sling Blade) to add some humor to a game about arachnids.) The Pros definitely outweigh the cons. My personal opinion is; Even if you are an arachnophobe, you can get enjoyment out of this game. Though not all games are for everyone this is definitely one to rent or borrow first so that you can try it out for yourself, then perhaps buy it if it appeals to you.
yes: I recommend this product
